Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My hydropool spa is tripping the circuit breaker. I moved my hottub off the deck onto a concrete pad next to the deck last summer. No problems, then over the first winter I went out one day and the breaker had tripped. I reset the breaker, no problems, happened two more times during the winter. I reset the breaker - no more problems. I should say that I was using the hottub during the winter and into the spring time with no problems. Now the breaker tripped and wouldnt turn the tub back on during a breaker re-set. I removed the breaker the checked the wire & breaker in the main panel - no problems, I then checked the breaker - no problem, then I unhooked the main power from the tub and reset the breaker. turned all the power back on. No problems. I had power from the main panel to the small sub-panel outside the tub, then from there I had good power on the leads that would go into the tub. Once I hooked those leads back to the tubs brain where they were, and the breaker tripped again. any suggestions? I have a tech coming to look at it but they are out a month.

It sounds to me like your hot tub has bugs take the control panel apart and clean the bugs out of it. if you have ants in the area they will get into the controls and cause it to trip out. i had similar problem with apump until i found the ants

No bugs, the control panel is clean & dry. I am thinking faulty circuit, but I dont know how to isolate individual circuits on a curcuit board.

We have a 2004 Balboa series spa and the breaker keeps tripping what could cause this? Everything has been working fine.

Understand that this information is beingprovided as-is and without warranty or guarantee. As with all electricalcomponents and devices, all work should be performed by a licensed spa or pooltechnician. Serious injury or death can occur if a component is improperlyrepaired or installed.

There are several reasons the breaker can trip. It could bea bad pump, bad heater, GFCI or wiring issue.... Typically unplugging eachcomponent will help isolate which component is causing the trip. It is rare fora board to cause a breaker trip, so if all components (including both legs ofthe heater) are disconnected and the breaker continues to trip then you move onto wiring or the GFCI.

Pool motor kicking the breaker only after a few minutes .

If the pool pump is running and then 10 minutes into the cycle it trips the breaker, then it is overloading the circuit. The pump is laboring, workingf too hard . The filter shoiuld be cleaned. maybe there is a blockage in the return line to the pool. the other thing could be the wire size to the pump, but you said that it was running last summer . so that should be OK

I have a Sundance Spa that has started tripping the breaker

It is unlikely the Breaker is BAD, that just doesn't happen. To trip a breaker there MUST be an Overload, or a Short circuit, that's it. You will have to use a meter an troubleshoot the system. Something is very wrong..please use the links below to troubleshoot and repair. Please Be careful. http://spababes.com/heaterhelp.html

The hottub keeps kicking the circuit breaker off.

Either the breaker is bad or you have an electrical problem. Unless you know how to work with electrical problems call for service. If you unplug the hot tub and plug a lamp or hair dryer into the outlet does the breaker trip? If yes, call an electrician. If the outlet is fine call for service on the hot tub.

Intermatic t10004 control panel trips the circuit breaker

That circuit breaker is letting you know that you've got a problem in the electrical wiring.... What's next is to turn the power off to BOTH legs of the breaker.
Begin by physically inspecting all the connections in the timer box, and at the breaker and all the way to the pump motor. Make sure all connections are dry, and there's no water in any of the conduits...this will cause a short circuit and trip the breaker. If there's any bare power leg wires touching a grounding point , this can cause the breaker to trip. Lastly check the motor on the pump; on the motor end, there should be a cap you can remove and use a crescent wrench to make sure the motor shaft is moving freely. It could be jammed with debris....this happens around my pool often because I'm surrounded by trees with needles. If the motor cannot turn freely, this will cause the breaker to blow... I'm pretty sure that your timer isn't the issue... Please let me know what you find out.
