You don't say you tried another power supply, and I'd suggest that. Then pronounce the motherboard dead and replace it if you still have the same trouble.

Acer aspire m3710 one long beeping

Must be a few years old? Sounds like the on-board battery. Remove the side and locate it, change it and the machine should start. It's usually a 2032 battery.
Once changed, you may have to go into BIOS and reset the time. Usually when the computer starts from the very beginning press delete and this should bring up the BIOS screen, then change the date and time, save settings and it should boot up with no problems. A friend had exactly the same problem with a different machine.

Need bios password?

Thats why they tell you not to save the information on a file on your hard drive. You should have it written down. I bet you won't make that mistake again!

How to remove acer laptop bios password

You'll need to open the laptop and reset the CMOS battery.

I'd recommend doing a search for you make and model for additional details. But in brief:

1. Disconnect power adapter and remove the battery.
2. remove the screws around the hard drive compartment (bottom of laptop) and slide off the cover
3. remove the screws holding hard drive in place and slide out the hard drive
4. Disconnect or remove the small power lead that connects the battery to the mother board.
5. Reconnect and place everything back together.

Hearing continuous beep sound at startup that disappears on Esc

I started having the smae problem yesterday with my Acer 1410 bought end of 2009. It started after I had stoped some suspicious process to work on start up (using msconfig). During the night I scanned the computer for virus but found nothing. Tonight I will enable those process to work on start up again and see what happens.
I will post the information tomorrow.

Bios password

The only way to solve your BIOS password is to open the laptop and remove its button cell meant to run the clock and BIOS. You will have to reach the mother board and do it. Remove it for a minute or so and then connect up everythig as it was. And remember not to gove any passwords any where in future.

Turn on the computer and you get a long beep followed by two short beeps a pause the repeats. The mother board is a Asus A84-SLI Delux

HI there..
1 long beep followed by two short beeps..
this Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information..
cause could be anything...
here are few - connections not connected or connected properly recent electrical storm caused a surge that damaged computer other hardware issues.. failing hardware device
solution (please note this is a labourious process)
first thing we need to isolate the problem.
remove any hard ware which is recently attached. remove external harddrives ....
open the cabinet.. reseat all the cables.. if it still gives you the same result then i am afraid could be a hardware problem...
