Question about Dynasty DGRSC 36-6 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

When I turn on the oven, the breaker trips after a couple of minutes. It will trip two or three times, and then the oven will work fine without tripping the breaker. This is a recent issue for a 10 year old oven. Is there a simple solution that I can check out before calling a service tech?

I changed out the GFCI and everything worked as it should without the breaker tripping. Still am having a professional technician come out to evaluate the entire situation. But, at least I feel better about going to sleep at night.

Your breaker is tripping because the circuit is overloaded and gets hot enough to cause a disturbance in the circuit. This can, indeed, be very dangerous. Unplug everything and get an electrician out there today to help you sort out what is overloading that particular breaker. Check if there are cracks in the element or if it is loose could be overworking or shorting out .

Lots of things are possible.

1. Sometimes a few breakers will have a lower rating as they age.
This is rare, but not unknown.

2. A loose connection on the breaker is heating it up, making the
thermal element hotter than it should be. This is a "could burn
the place down" risk.

3. Added appliances could be reaching the load limit on the circuit.

4. Some appliance is defective (and dangerous).

Check the breaker in question carefully to see if it feels warmer or
hotter than other breakers. If so, shut off all the appliances and
wait an hour, then shut off the breaker (look away as you do this,
since there is a small, but non-zero, risk that the breaker is damaged
as a result of the heat, and this may be the instant it chooses to
physically break and cause its own short).A loose connection could result in burning the
whole place down

I have had my whirlpool dryer about 4yrs + (geq9800pw2) has always worked fine. Last week it started tripping ckt breaker toward the end of drying cycle. As of this morning, it blows ckt breaker...

leave off the oven and a/c breakers and plug dryer and reset the breaker. if not tripping occurs then one at a time trip back the oven first. if no trip then trip off again and trip the a/c. if no trip then trip the oven back. if trip you may have a wire problem. if dryer trip any way then possibly you have a short in dryer. check the heating element wires, power cord at the dryer side(terminal block).

Oven cuts out causing the trip switch of the house to trip after turning on for 5 minutes. The element was replaced three months ago by an engineer and the oven is three years old. Any help appreciated.

Any time a breaker trips in your household panel it is telling you of a serious short cicuit, circuit to ground or over current situation. I would take the appliance out of service immediately, and have it inspected an repaired as required. If it worked fine when the element was replaced, and the problem developed slowly, It is possible that a conductor has been pinched, or a screw connection has come loose. I would also consider the wiring and devices (receptacle and plug, if so equipped) between the panel and the appliance. Again, it is possible that a conductor has been damaged, and or a screw or two have come loose.
Unless you are comfortable and somewhat competant workig with electrical equipment, you may wish to call your engineer back to look at it. You should also know that wiring and materials used in appliance manufacture and repair must be rated for use in very hot applications, not all insulation and plastics will survive. Best of luck, think safety, Rob.

This oven is fitted to my new (to me) rv. the convection bit is fine, but the microwave trips the 15A breaker. have changed the breaker, still trips.

Yes the breaker is to stop firs etc, you should NEVER EVER simply re-set a breaker without finding out WHY it tripped. I suspect your oven has developed a Short Circuit fault. Please DO NOT touch it while plugged in you risk electric shock. Please remove from power and get it looked at by a qualified person. Please ask for "Quote" before proceeding with any work. a lot of the time replacement is cheaper than repair.

Eaton Arc Fault Breaker type BRAF tripped. I reset it but lights will not work. Ideas please?

My arc fault breaker trips in my bedroom when ever a load is put on line. The trunk line comes into a three gang switch box and feeds the entire room. At times I can turn my ceiling fan and light on for 10 to 20 minutes before the breaker trips. Other times the breaker will trip when either switch is first turned on. I plugged a 4 watt night light in a wall receptical, without the ceiling light or fan on, it also trips the breaker. I have had other plug in lamps, 60 watt, work in other recepticals for a while. The problem seems to appear in all recepticals and lighting in the room.

Oven wont work but clock still works

First make sure you didn't trip a breaker. You could have power for the electronics on one side of the 220V and that is why the clock still works. Turn off the breaker and then back on even if it looks on. If it does this again you have a sever problem that will require a service call. If the breaker is tripping it could be other than the oven and if so a new one will work ok unless itsin your wiring.

If this helps you please ratre me accordingly Good luck.

I am not an expert, but this has happened to me. Examine your circuit breaker and see that it provides the amps that your oven requires. If it just barely provides it, then it could be that your circuit breaker is tripping if you have anything else on that line and it is being used. Especially hair dryers. If your circuit breaker is not tripping, you should contact GE or repair service because you may have a "power module" problem. Good luck.
