My riding mower is a John Deere GX255, about 6 yrs old. The lift assist spring is approx. 16 inches long. There is a 14 inch long bolt that goes into the left front of the frame and screws into the front of the spring and is used to adjust tension. The coiled part of the spring is 7" long with a straight tail 9" long with a hook in the end. What does the hooked end attach to? Thanks

The lift assist spring provides a little extra pull when you raise the mower deck. NOTE: Make sure the tension on the lift assist spring is properly adjusted to support the weight of the mower deck installed. Click the link below to see the spring attachment and its location. ----------- This should help.thanks.Helpmech.

I need to replace the Spring.ext on my Craftsman XLT1000 Tractor. It is part number 917272420 or #61 in the owners manual. I cannot see where the spring attaches to - but it looks like it goes to one

This is on the end of the deck lift cable. fwd side attaches to the top of the carriage bolt (146) with pin (45). The back end is attached to the cable (not listed in manual that i can see) and the Sway Bar Bracket 38/42" deck (4) with pin (149).

In such a situation replace the spring assembly and shaft that it is attached to. Then determine how many winds you need to add to the windlass for spring tension to get the door to lift. Depending how the door track it is set up the outer wheels that take up the lift cable spool about 16 to 18 inches of cable per revolution. The spring gets tensioned by sticking a length of half inch/13 mm rod into 1 of the 4 tensioning holes of the windlass that are cast into the clamping end of the spring and turning tension onto the spring by way of that windlass to lift the door once the cables are attached to the door and then clamped into the wheels, once the approximately correct lift height has been cranked into the spring. One rod would need to be left in place to hold windlass firm until the set screw is tightened. Then you can put on a hard hat, unlock the door and lift slightly- the rod will fall out if you wound the spring the correct direction.and the door should rise again with ease.

Is it difficult to install a curved end watch band ?

I am going to assume you are talking about a leather band. You may need to bend the springbars( the pins that attach your band to the watch). You can do this with two teaspoons. Put the spring bar between the nested spoons and gently squeeze them together. This will facilitate attaching the band.

How to adjust a 9460897 mtd snow blower auger clutch cable.

On the handle end (usually) of the cable is a curved metal connector. Attached to the connector is a threaded rod with a nut. Attach a pair of pliers to the threaded cylinder that the threaded rod goes into. Loosen the nut. Turn the threaded cylinder into the threaded rod to tighten or out to loosen. When you have the correct adjustment, tighten the nut back down onto the cylinder. To be correctly adjusted, pull the cover off the auger belt and push down on the handle. The spring attached to the cable at the pulley end should stretch out when the handle is fully depressed. Spring tension keeps the belt tight. iaff801.jpg

609 yard machine tractor idler pulley spring broke

Here's a diagram, not a great copy, but it may help:

The spring hooks to the idler arm on the opposite end from where the pulley is mounted. The other end of the spring looks like it hooks to a raised tab on the deck, straight behind the left mower spindle. Hope this helps you, please rate my solution if so, thanks!

How do I attatch the heavy spring that helps lift my snowblower to my 416-8 toro snowblower

lift the snow blower up as far as it will go and block it there, attach one end of the heavy spring to the place it attaches on the tractor now attach a come-a-long to the free end of the spring and using the come-a-long stretch out the spring until it is longer then you need it to attach to the other spot it fits on the tractor, pry it over to the spot on the tractor that it goes and slowly let off the tension on the come-a-long until the spring is firmly in its correct position on the tractor. One tip when you attach the spring to the come-a-long use a piece of rope or wire between the come-a-long hook and the end of the spring, so that you have room to attach the spring to the tractor and just remove the rope or wire when in place and you are done. Hope This Helps Don

Soap dispenser door came off

First, look at the spring from sliding dispenser cover - it has 2 ends with loops - one end has a little "curve" in it; other end is "straight", no curve.
Sliding cover and lever of dispenser have little knobs for attaching the spring.
The loop of "curved" end has to be pushed and attached to sliding cover,
the loop of "straight" end has to be pushed and attached to lever of dispenser (the lever is blue color, other parts are gray).

After spring is attached to both - sliding cover and lever, push the cover first at upper groove, then at lower groove - It should slide easily.

I am trying to replace the lift supports on the trunk of my jeep. i cannot figure out how to get the old support off.

On the ends where the lift cylinders attach there is a spring clip that wraps around the end of the lift cylinder, take a small pocket screwdriver and remove these U clips and just pull the lift cylinder free, make sure you have the trunk supported so it doesn't knock you out.

Plastic piece came loose inside printer

The parking mechanism front spring has a tendency to come off in the C4x family of printers. Re-attaching it is a fiddly task not covered in the service manual. The pictures show: a general shot of the parking mechanism from the front; a shot of the actuation lever, illustrating where the front spring attaches to it; a view into the empty parking mechanism compartment showing where the lug is to which the bottom end of the front sprint attaches; a suggested tool for re-attaching the front spring, made from a large paper clip.

Proceed as follows, using a torch where necessary: lift the parking mechanism out its holder; be careful not to detach the drain pipe. Using the tool, attach one end of50f32be.gif54a9806.gif88c5669.gif9145528.gif the spring to the lug at the bottom of the parking mechanism compartment. Remove the tool and leave the spring laying at the bottom with one end attached to the lug. Replace the parking mechanism in its holder, with the actuation lever in place. Now for the fiddly bit! Peer into the compartment to locate the free end of the spring and get the tool on it. Pull the spring until you can put the free end over the lug on the actuation lever. Remove the tool.
