5300aio Not printing anything with black ink. Installed new black cartrige today. Color printing is OK. Thought it was a problem with word perfect at first but when I tried the color the printer worked OK. The printer has sat for a month and I think it worked then, however color printing was used.

Remove the black cartridge and clean the brown dotted circuit in both the printer and cartridge with moist tissue and insert in the printer.also see whether you have removed the blue tape on the nozzle of the new cartridge. and then print the test page only from the printer not with the computer.only printer.

See if your printer has a clean print cartridges option. If running this a couple of times does not get ink on the page, you might have a bad printer. Is it under warranty?

Inkjet printers nozzles can dry out and get clogged. If the units printhead cleaning does not work you can remove the printhead and manually clean it. My personal method for cleaning any inkjet printhead is to use distilled or de-ionized water. You can soak the printhead nozzles or you can use a Lint-free cloth.

Wet the cloth and wipe the printhead nozzles from front to back or back to front following the grain of the nozzle lines you see on the printhead. do not use a circular motion or wipe left to right across the nozzles.

Hope that helps........

You can also try to remove the cartridges and put them back in , then just try to print a plain text document and see if it will print with black only...

Take out the cartridges and clean their sides, which pick up hair.

Clean the cartridge-cleaning mechanism itself on the right, especially the foam pad.

Take out the cartridges and clean the bottom of their carriers.
