Question about Bissell Vacuums

2 Answers

I have a Bissell Lift-off Revolution Turbo vacuum and the brush doesn't spin on its own anymore. Does this mean the motor is busted because there's no noise when you press the brush button. We've just replaced the belt, hepa filter and a new brush. But its still the same. What's wrong with my vacuum?

Its probably the motor. remove the covers with a #2 phillips head screwdriver and cut the wires to the motor ( unplugged ). purchase some crimps at radio shack to resplice the wires together in the same fashion.

My mom phoned Bissell and talked to them personally. She was hoping to get a discount on a new vacuum or something. She didn't get anything and was very unhappy with them because the vacuum is only a year and 8 months old and the warranty was for only one year. She bought a new hepa filter for it, a new belt and had to order from Bissell themselves a new roller. She found out that she would only get $12 back for the roller (she paid $35) and now we have to buy a new vacuum or take it in to get serviced and pay $100 probably. So its not worth it. This vacuum was a rip-off. We have to buy a new one.

My brush is not turning and the belt is on the motor. I think the belt motor may be bad due to excessive dog hair. How do I get to the motor?

I had one melt the plastic around the bearings on the brush. you might try taking out the brush first, getting to the motor you'll have to take it completely apart.

Bissel 3760-4 brush motor doesn't turn on

Hi Tim. I understand the brush is turning & belt is fine. You may want to remove and reseat the canister. If this doesn't work, you'll want to have one of our Authorized Service Centers inspect your vacuum.
Here's a link to assist you in locating one in your area: http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/?cid=ccsocial

Brush wont go round but the belt is ok

The belt may look okay but it can still be stretched. If it is stretched it won't turn the brush against the resistance of the carpet. Here is a link to the belts you need and to the manual which has instructions:

Bissell liftoff brush wont turn

Check the connections on the bottom of the lift off part, and the matching connector on the bottom section. If bad, take it to a warranty repair shop for Bissell. Other wise it could be the brush motor that is bad, or the switch is bad.

If you have a rubber smell, then the belt is slipping, does the brush roll turn freely while holding the ends? If not then replace it, part #2036619, if it is ok, then the belt has strectched and is slipping under load, part # 2106679, Style 8.
