Question about Kitchen Ranges
It sounds like the blades are not rotating freely and the belt is slipping in the pulley/s. Check the blades for freedom of movement and replace any bearings that appear tight. It could also be the belt tension that is too slack and the belt is slipping when the blades come up against a load. Check the belt tension. Your should be able to turn the belt through no more than about 90 deg with some resistance on a long belt run if the tension is correct. Remember to remove the spark plug lead before attempting any work on the blades etc, and please rate this response.
