House drain must be plugged, other wise water would be going down the drain.

When dishwasher is emptying it is backing into sink

there is probably nothing wrong with Dishwasher itself.
Your Sink drain is stopped up or your Garbage disposal is clogged.
usually, dishwasher drain is connected to the Garbage Disposal, but if the dishwasher empties the water into the Garbage disposal, if its clogged then water will come out of the sink. Same if sink is clogged between sink and sewer.

If you fill up your sink and then water drains away, then you know your sink itself is not the problem. If its only the Garbage disposal side that does not drain, its the garbage disposal that is clogged.

My dishwsaher wont drain water

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

When I try to drain my dishwasher, it fills up my sink. when the sink drains, my dishwasher fills

Sounds like you have your dishwasher drain connected directly to your drain under sink and you have a blocked drain. It will function normally once you have removed the block in the sink drain but you should have a the dishwasher drain hose hooked up to a air gap to prevent harmful bacteria from getting in to the dishwasher again in the future. Hope this helps.
