Unfortunately this is probably a hardware problem, hopefully you got it form Best Buy and it is under the 2 year warranty. The sad fact is Insignia TVs just don't last, however it might be something minor that a repair shop can fix. So I would take it into a repair shop and after they say it will take $400 dollars to fix it, chuck it and get a new TV.

I have an insignia 42in LCD-LED TV and am trying to program my telustv remote (UHFPro 167858). I followed the instructions I found to program it (Hold down the clear tv button till all the lights flash,...

The procedure that the manual had you go through cycled the remote through all of the codes that it can generate to try and find one that will work with your TV. Unfortunately from what you describe your remote was not able to generate a code that your Insignia TV could understand. All may not necessarily be lost though.

Most TV's built in these times are actually built by 3 or 4 main manufacturers. This means the outside will look different, and the name panel will be different, but the electronics inside will be identical to a number of other brands. I am not sure who manufactures Insignia, but you should be able to check with the retailer you bought it from. I believe the brand name is sold by either Future Shop or Best Buy. Once you know who made the TV you can try codes listed in your manual for that TV,

You can also try contacting Telus support, as they have no doubt had calls on Insignia TV's in the past. They might be able to tell you which codes will work with your TV.

If all else fails you may have to purchase one of the many universal remotes that are available today. Logitech makes a number of good ones. You can go to their webpage to take a look at what they have available, and the approximate cost of them. You will be able to look at a list of units that the remote will control The good thing about their remotes is that they constantly update their files for new units to control. You can find out from Telus who manufactures their receiver box to ensure that the remote will control it.

One of these procedures should resolve your issue. Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue. Should you need further information or assistance please do not hesitate to let us know.

Watching tv/w a dvd/vhs player(a seperate machine)the power goes out on the screen.went out with a white flash like usually when i turn it on the bottom where the control buttons are,a red light...

It seems that your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done. It is that sound that gives it away, this is a typical switchmode Power Supply problem.

Black Screen with a white line through the middle of screen.

The Flyback i'e the circuit board on the back of the tube as thus malfuctioned and give you this white line with sound.. If you did not have sound we would be discussing the PSU "power supply unit" This fly back for a 27 inch will run $105 plus tax.. The installation thereof would be done by a technition witch will charge 15 to 20 per hour.. Okay here is the sad part you can recycle this TV and get a flat panel for much cheaper then it would take to repair this unit "i am just telling you the truth" But do not shoot the messangero n this one, since I did tell you you're proble could you leave a rating?

27" insignia TV

If you have the manual see if there is a option to disable the OSD (on screen display) this will be a temporary fix, In the mean time I will download the manual and look myself. If not we will need to take the back cover off and unplug the control panel to see if the problem is in the panel or the mainboard. I will get back to you ASAP. Lone99star
