So you're saying that you want to save all your contacts into your SIM card as well?

then maybe the saved numbers are not saved properly in either your phone or your sim.. kindly check on that.

All sorted now, not any problem with phone or set up. It was a network update which Orange sent a message to my handset for network updates and hey prestoe caller id now works just fine.

Caller id not displayed

Hi,

This is because you have duplicates on your phone for the same phone no.Delete those duplicates.

Some time you would have duplicates in phone memory and the Sim memory so caller id will not show up.

1)First take back-up of all contacts.
2)delete phone and Sim contacts stored fully.
3)Now save contacts one by one only in sim or phone.
4)No duplicates for same phone no.

If you PC-suite you can back up phone contacts easily.
else delete all the phone contacts first and then delete only some Sim contacts which contains the duplicates.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

I have the nokia 5800 xpressmusic which i have just got. in the top right hand corner there is a envelope flashing, when you click on it its says simcard memory full, i have all ready cleared the numbers...

If you've just put your SIM card in your Nokia 5800, you may have noticed a flashing envelope icon at the top of the screen.
This icon indicates that the SIM card's own text message storage is full. This doesn't actually cause problems on the 5800 because it stores its messages in the phone's own memory, but the envelope can look a bit annoying.
To get rid of the flashing envelope:

1. On the standby screen press the white menu button.

2. Select "Messaging"

3. Select "Options"

4. Select "SIM Messages"

5. Delete some or all of the messages from the SIM messages folder using the Options menu.

This should make the flashing envelope go away. You only have to do this once because when the SIM card is emptied it won't fill any more, as the 5800 does not store messages on SIM cards.

Callers id doesnt on incoming calls but it shows on text messages how do i get caller id's showing?

Hello,

I think te issue is that you have all the names on your phone in double, or your contact setting is on sim and phone.. so you have to make it either sim or phone and make sure you don't have any duplicate number

Callers' name doesn't show even though i have them in my contacts

Hi,

Solution 1

Some caller's names does not appear even though they are on your contact list because you have then copied twice on your phone. What you'll need do it to delete one contact each for the caller id's that don't show when they call in. Once you get this done, your phone phone would begin to show contacts on your phone.

If you want to know if this true, then get someone around you and save his/her name twice then ask him/her to call you. You'll notice that the caller id would not appear, but once you get one of the contacts deleted and ask him/her to call you back, you'll discover that the caller's id would begin to show.

Solution 2

For your access point, just define it the next time you switch on your phone and save it. Then it would not have to change the next time you turn your phone on/off.

Solution 3

To get rid of the welcome go to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Personalization >

You can set it from here.

Hope this helped.

I have 2 nokia phones.... one 5800 and one 1661... i save all my contacts to my SIM card.... the 5800 shows i have 198 contacts... but when i switch phones.... the 1661 shows that i only have 16...

It could be two things, first off make sure you are actually going to the sim card on the 1661, I believe you need to go into the settings of the address book and specify to copy from sim device to phone book, otherwise you will only see contacts stored in the 1661's flash memory.

If you are certain you are viewing the contacts on the device then it is a compatibility issue on the SIM device between the two phones. I recommend you take the two phones along with the SIM in question to your nearest wireless network provider office, they will be able to verify that it is either a compatibility issue, defective sim, or just a simple error in where the contacts are viewed.

This should cover ever possible scenario.

Thank you so very much for the opportunity, this should definitely help you out!

Thanks

Tim

Nokia 5800 problem

this is not a problem...
the point if that the old phone which you used stored the contacts in the sim card a sim card can store up to 100-200 contacts (dont know the exact number)
So when you inserted the sim card into the New phone teh contacts got shifted to the new phone through the sim .
They are stored in teh sim so you might be getting the message no contacts in the phone as there arent any!!!!!!!!!
i do not know about the phone but the nokia 3600 could go to the sim and back by the direction keys
why dont you try that out???
or reffer the book which came with it for the contacts
but i am quite sure this is what has happened..
the blinking is because now you sim cannot hold anymore contacts it is full....
i will chech out the functionality of 5800 hundred and tell you about how to do it in some time

Caller id

Save your contacts to the phone. Personalized caller ID only works from the phone, not the sim. Go to contacts then press the contact name once to select it.  Press the menu button (bottom left) on phone and scroll to 'copy to phone'.  You should see the caller name when they ring then.
(I bought a sim back-up device so that I can keep the sim clear. If caller information is on both the phone and sim it gets listed twice in your contacts).
