Here is a site with the pin out http://atariage.com/forums/topic/184792-800xl-power-supply-connector/ , so if you want to try and use a ATX power supply you could mod it for the Xl

SOURCE: Atari 2600 Console Power Adapter

The Atari 2600 adapter has the following information on it:

Input: 120V AC 60Hz 12W

Output: 9V DC 500mA

Positive tip

Make sure you test the power supply before you use it. I have 2 original atari power supplies, and they are both putting out about 15V DC, which may be why my atari's aren't working anymore!

Can i use any charger on s505

The Toshiba Satellite 5205 series of Notebook PC, and the S505 series model; uses an AC adapter (Charger) that produces 15 Volts DC.

http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,5205,PS520U-31P1RV,Laptop,AC-Adapters.aspx

You will see AC adapters sold that show 15 to 24 Volts. (DC)

http://www.duracelldirect.com/toshiba_satellite-5205-s505_ac-adapters_laptop_ac-b20h.aspx

This is because the AC adapter (Charger) has PFC.
Power Factor Correction,

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Everything-You-Need-to-Know-About-Power-Supplies/181/2

Also I see it is just a two pin AC adapter plug, to laptop.
Center hole is Positive, outer metal cylindrical metal shell is Negative.

Go for 75 Watts or higher though, and not a 65 Watt model.

[ On the case of the AC adapter;
Input: 100 ~ 240 VAC 50-60Hz

Means it can use from 100 to 240 Volts AC, and either 50 or 60 Hertz.

Output: 15VDC 6A

Means 15 Volts DC at 6 Amp's. (Amperes)

Watch the outside dimension of the cylindrical part, and the center hole dimension. Outside cylinder may be correct, but center hole may be too small. Or vice-versa.

My son just got a atari 2600 console but it will not power up swap the 9 volt and still not power up

Well put it this way yes it a power system failure to fix this problem you basiclly will have to install a new mother board for the console from another atari 2600 console like from ebay. If you find a crappy atari 2600 console with a working motherboard you might just be able to switch it and I fix NES SNES N64 sega gamecube and atari 2600 consoles too. This has a high probility of not working if you don't know what to do or on how to fix it. 8 out of 10 it might not work after this.

Problems with the ac smart adapter Hp Compaq 6910p

You could possibly have a loose dc jack.Being able to wiggle it around and getting it to work tells me that the jack is probally going out. That wiggling your doing can cause an arc on your system board, which can short out your board.Stop wiggling your power supply adapter in your dc jack and take your computer to certified repair shop and have your jack checked.Best to rule this out first ,so no damage is done to your board. If you jack test good ,then replace you power supply....Good luck

Atari CX-2600 wont work

You have a video splitter connected? It is set to "game" or "computer," rather than TV. Is there snow on the screen? As if there is no video signal? Or, is there a blank screen (as if the power is on but no video).

There is a channel setting switch (channel 3 and 4, if I remember correctly). Make sure you have it on the same channel.

If you don't think the system is even coming on and if you know how to use a multimeter, see if you are getting voltage at the powerjack on the 2600. It should be 9 volts dc.

Hope this helps,
Bill

JBL Media 100 Speaker power?

Buy a power adapter from radio shack or similar place. You need a 1000mA 12 volt dapter. Just make sure it is rated @ or above 1000mA to avoid the adapter heating up and possibly burning. The whole setup is rated @ 850mA wich 1A(1000mA) should handle with enough head room. But it might run you about $15-20. I would just buy a cheap radio with rca inputs/aux input and use that. I got one from Walmart for around $40 and it plays CD's & AM/FM.
