Question about White Sewing Superlock 2000 ATS Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

I have a white superlock 228 jaguar serger problems with right needle

Hi there, could you tell me why this serger has not had consistent even stitches. Sewing looks fine from top but when you turn it over the looping is very uneven and especially the right needle. The right needle stitch from underneath looks like it's all pulled out. So I disregarded the right stitch needle and use 3 spools of thread for the other left needle and 2 other loopers. I've tried every tension setting and the differential as well. The prescribed setting just didn't work which was 4-2-2-2. I'm just sewing casual cotton wear fabrics. The looping threads would be fine for awhile and then would start to get uneven even when I use only the 3 threads. Thank you.

I have the same machine with the same problem! I've had it to shop and paid to have it fixed. Lasted a week and same thing, it never stitches evenly.

Couple of things I could think of: tension disks need cleaning, there is a site that tells how to clean them, maybe 2 as I recall. Other thing is it is a much older serger, (I have one I am slowly working on to bring up to working level), so it could be that a tension spring internally has lost its tension. It might need a trip to the repair man if that is the case. Another thing is are you using correct needles for the machine? Have you changed them recently? Even new needles can be bad, so if you have to change three times to triple check it can be worth it.

White Superlock serger continually breaking needles

First take all the thread out of the machine. Put in new needles and run the machine slowly by hand and see if there is a problem with timing. If the needle hits and bends or breaks... take it in to be timed. If the needle don't hit....

Make sure you are properly threading this thing. Unlike a sewing machine which gives you some leeway, Sergers must be threaded in a certain order. Typically, upper looper, lower looper, right needle left needle. If you break a thread you can't just rethread that thread... you have to start from the beginning.

You might check singerco.com for the manual for this thing. They have most of white's manuals online they are identified by a W before the serger model number.

My left thread breaks even when i dont have material in the machine and also when i insert the needles the right needle is longer than the left is that supposed to be that way.

try rethreading the machine incase the thread is caught somewhere

also check the tension on the left needle is sound like it to tight

yes, on my serger one needle is a little bit longer too

I have a White Superlock 2000 ATS Serger and it looks like I have it threaded correctly but the LEFT needle thread is not catching. What am I doing wrong?

First re-thread it from start in this order AFTER checking to see that the left needle is higher than the right one. (It's supposed to be higher!) Make sure the needles are new and flat side to the back. Thread first the upper looper, than the lower looper, rt needle and then left needle. If this doesn't work, the timing might be off which is a trip to the repair service. Let me know if this works. Hope you don't have to take it to the "doc!"

Left needle thread keeps breaking on my White Superlock 2000 ATS serger

the tension must be too tight or check to make sure the spool does not have a crack that is catching the thread in the middle of using the serger. When the serger is working and the spool has a crack it catching the thread then you press to go on and it gives a break the needle because the spool is still holding onto the thread

What is the size of the needle used in the white superlock 1934D

This is a very highly regarded serger. Check out the reviews on http://sewing.patternreview.com if you're interested--but they are all extremely positive.

I also checked out the White Sewing Machine site--the three sergers they currently sell all use regular sewing machine needles.

Based on what I read on both sites, I believe your machine also uses regular sewing machine needles (not all sergers do, BTW). To be absolutely certain, you can call the White Help Line (l 800-331-3164, Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM, EST).

If your serger uses regular sewing machine needles, then the size of the needle depends on the type of fabric you're sewing. Sizes 8 to 10 for lightweight fabrics, 12 to 14 for medium weight fabrics, and 16 to 18 for heavy weight. Use ballpoint needles for knits, jeans needles for denim, and universal needles or sharps for woven fabrics.

I'm looking for a price for a White #228 by Jaguar.

I purchased that same machine in 1993 for $800. The White Superlock 2000 ATS sergers were supposed to be the new deluxe model but it turns out that they didn't really work as well as they were intended to. In the years since then all of these sergers were being sold by liquidators. The current price is usually less than $200. for a new machine still in the box. Hope this info helps.

Threading my whites superlock 2500 serger

You can get sewing machine manuals online at sewingmanuals.com. I didn't see the superlock 2500 but there were other superlocks. They may thread the same way.
