SOURCE: Can you still re-gas the air conditioning in a 1998 model?

The rumors you've been hearing are about the refrigerant - I'm sure.

R-12 for years and years was the only type of refrigerant used in cars.

Since R-12 is now 'banished' you can no longer re-charge a car's AC using it.

Not to worry - there are plenty of replacement refrigerants out there to take it's place.

Don't worry about the AC in the Hyundai, chances are if the AC works now - you will not have to deal with re-charging it. Just be sure the AC is working properly before you buy the car and try to get some type of warranty, i.e. 30 days or longer on it.

I realize the car is 12 years old - but - sometimes you can get a dealer to warranty the AC for 30 days - maybe even the engine and transmission - if he wants to sell the car bad enough. If he (dealer) is offering a warranty already - just be sure what it covers, i.e. the AC, tranny, engine, etc etc. Sometimes the warranty will cover the engine and transmission but nothing else, including the AC.

Note: cars, especially older ones are known for having small, hard to find leaks - thus requiring them to be re-charged at the beginning of summer.

If I was buying a 12 year old car these days, and the AC worked fine at purchase - I would understand three (3) things.

Number 1 - the car AC might have a leak in it and the car dealer 'might' have just re-charged it "without" repairing the leak - thus - transferring the problem to me (the new owner).

Number 2 - the car AC might have a 'slow leak' and at some point in the future - i.e. beginning of summer - it might need a re-charge.

Number 3 - the car AC might still be in great working condition and have no leaks - and everything will be fine.

Bottom line - If you do require a re-charge - a qualified AC shop will be able to re-charge the AC for you.

good luck!

SOURCE: I need to know how

There will be an outside trim cover that you will be able to pop off. It should have two screws up in the top of it, depending on what stereo and trim package. Once you remove the trim piece. That should expose 4 screws. Remove the 4 screws from the dash bracket. Not the stereo. Once you remove the screws, then the stereo should slide out, to where you can get to the wiring. Then depending on what stereo you have. The electrical plugs have a small hook that you have to press in while pulling on the wiring. You will have a bigger black cable for the antenna, it will just pull out.

SOURCE: SPEEDO METER OF MY HYUNDAI STAREX VAN DOES'NT WORK AFTER REPLACING THE SPEEDOMETER SENSOR DEVICE

I don't know what is causing this problem, but I know phil140701's answer is completely wrong on two counts. First, 740 Volvos starting at least in 1986 have electronic speedometers and no cable. There is an electronic sensor on the differential which sends a signal to the speedometer cluster. Second, if it were strictly mechanical with a cable then the voltage regulator could have no effect on it at all.

My friend had a similar problem. When he had it checked, he was told to spray staring fluid on the air filter and it started. So, he was told that if it starts by spraying starting fluid on the air filter, the problem is with the fuel pump. If not, the problem is electrical. So far, my friends starex diesel AT is running smoothly. Hope this will help you. Cheers.

Hi Guys I have 2004 starex crdi van ,,before one

I would start by spraying starting fluid in the air cleaner. If it starts you will know that it is a fuel problem. If not then it will be an electrical problem.
