Hi - I have a sr400na heater, it fires up stay's on for about a minute than shuts off with no error code except for service heater light comes on. I'm thinking maybe the high limit switch? Water flow is good. Thoughts?

Try cleaning the baskets and make sure the filter is clean. This will usually fix the problem. Then open front access panel anddisconnect the pressure switch which the sensor connected to the end of a brasstube, touch the ends together in order to bypass the pressure switch, if itworks as normal when doing this then it is just a bad switch, you have tochange the switch. Secondlyif the heater ignites, and the flame sensor is faulty, it will shut down immediatelyas a safety measure. Follow this link, it may help you "http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/MaxEThermOM.pdf".

Look on the panel of the heater, does it say service heater or service system? It sounds like you might have a dirty filter.

Try changing the "stack flu sensor". It could be the sensor is bad or the sensor could be detecting a bigger problem. The sensor can not be jumped out.

Heater will not come on and there is no error code. The power light is on.

Is there any lights on? If there are and still no error code, just blinking lights. Check the thermistor. I had a similar problem. Heater had power, lights were on SW was green but no error code and would not fire up. I replaced the thermistor. It took me all of 5 minutes and heater fired up and is working great.

Heater fires up burns for 8-10 seconds then shuts down then attemps to restart one time then completely shuts down and then the service heater light turns on.

Most Common problem with gas pool heaters is the pressure switch, in order to test it you need to open front access panel and disconnect the pressure switch which the sensor connected to the end of a brass tube, touch the ends together in order to bypass the pressure switch, if it works as normal when doing this then it is just a bad switch, very easy to change. Costs about 30 bucks.

Shows r 5 code when power is turned on. sta-rite

The R5 is a sequence code in the boot up sequence where your error is occuring. There is nothing in the users manual for these pool heaters that explains this error. Your best bet, unfortunately, is going to be to call Sta Rite. Here is their customer service number: 1-800-831-7133

Error code 126

This is a bad thermister or heat sensor. It mounts in your water manifold and if it goes bad no error will show. The bad sensor is telling the heater that the water is to hot and it wont let the heater fire. This is a farley inexpensive part and easy to change out. With a new one it should read the proper temp and call for heat then fire the heater. Good luck.
