I just found the model number (under the handset) 8110M

  • carla_lammot May 19, 2011

When I pres the PROGRAM button I hear the tone, but the instant I press a button to program it the tone disappears completely. Even if I continue the process nothing is recorded.

  • carla_lammot May 19, 2011

I have tried several of the buttons and several different orders; I even tried the "To erase a number stored ona programmable dialing button".
No the phone is over 10 yrs old and given to me for use by an employer; no manual available

  • carla_lammot May 20, 2011

I guess I should have been clearer; I have been using this phone for 10 years. I have the buttons programmed for commonly used numbers from a previous job; now that I've changed jobs I want to program them with NEW numbers; so yes, the phone works, and all the functions behind it's keys works; When I press PROGRAM I get the solid tone as noted but when I push ANY other button while that solid tone is sounding, it goes dead, no tone, nothing, like you've hung up. If I press any of the currently programmed pre-dial buttons they continue to accurately dial the number I have programmed them to. The error is in the first instruction; pressing PROGRAM causes a solid tone but pressing any button immediately after that causes loss of dial tone and phone goes silent/dead.

  • carla_lammot May 20, 2011

I give up. Regardless of what we do, the instant I press another button AFTER pressing the PROGRAM button (and getting a solid tone), I lose the dial tone and everything stops. So any instructions telling me to "press the PROGRAM button" and then "press......." won't be any good because any button pressed after the program button is causing the phone to go dead. It's not that important, I can just dial the numbers.

Hello.

I realize that there is no model listed, but typically there should be some codes on the side or bottom of the phone. Without the model number, it would be difficult to provide assistance. But, please provide info found in those areas of the phone and we could go forward.

Hope this helps.

    Hello, again.

Here are the instructions (found online):

    Programmable Dialing Buttons (Speed Dialing)

The 12 programmable dialing buttons are provided for one-touch
dialing for frequently dialed telephone numbers. You can store
emergency numbers as well as feature access codes on these buttons.

Note: You can program up to 20 elements (digits and
characters, such as Pause or Flash) on a programmable dialing button.
If the number you want to store is longer than 20 digits and characters,
you can do one of the following:

    • Store up to 20 elements on one button; store the remainder of
the elements on a second button. To place a call using these buttons,
press the first button, wait until all of the elements have been dialed, then press the second button.

    • Store up to 20 elements on one button; dial the remainder of the elements manually.

To program any of the 12 programmable dialing buttons (while on-hook)

    1. Press the PROGRAM button to enter programming mode

      • You hear a continuous tone while you are in programming mode

    2. Press programmable dialing button on which you want to store the number

      • Tone is briefly interrupted twice

    3. Dial number you want to program on the button, up to 20 elements

      • The tone reminding you that you are in programming mode
is interrupted each time you press a dial pad key, the PAUSE button, or
        [Flash].

      • You hear a rapid error tone if you try to enter more than 20 elements

      • You can use the PAUSE button to program a .5 second
pause between a dialing access number (such as 9) and the telephone
number, and for certain banking and long-distance services.

Note: Several depressions of the PAUSE button
will produce a multiple of .5 second pauses. For example, pressing
PAUSE 3 times produces a combined 1.5 second pause

      • Programmable dialing buttons can also be used to
program certain system features. See you System Administrator for
        system feature codes.

    4. To program another programmable dialing button, repeat Steps 2 and 3.

    5. Press the PROGRAM button when you are ready to exit programming mode.

To dial a number with a programmable dialing button

    1. Pick up handset or press [Spkr]

    2. When you hear dial tone, press the appropriate programmable dialing button

      • Number programmed on the button is automatically dialed

To erase a number stored on a programmable dialing button

    1. Press the PROGRAM button

    2. Press button to be cleared twice

    3. Press the PROGRAM button or lift the handset

  • NinaE May 19, 2011

Try one of the other 11 programmable buttons to see if there is any difference. Was the phone purchased new ?

  • NinaE May 19, 2011

So, when you press any one of the 12 buttons, do you get a tone, error or nothing? Since it is a used phone, wondering if the buttons had been programmed.

Give this a try (the intention is to reset the phone):

    Pick up the handset
    Press the PROGRAM button
    Hang up the handset

Also, to see if ANY functions work on this phone, try Redial:

    Redial (With Auto-Pause)

The Redial feature automatically redials the last number you dialed from the keypad, either an extension or an outside number. Use to save time in redialing a busy or unanswered number. The number you redial can be up to 20 digits.

The Auto-Pause feature can automatically insert pauses after a dial access number (such as 9) in a redialed number. If you usually wait a short period to obtain a second dial tone after dialing an access code, you can set the waiting time using the Redial feature by programming the Auto-Pause feature as described.

To automatically redial the last number you dialed

Pick up handset or press [Spkr]
    Press [Redial]
    Number is automatically redialed
Note: You will hear a rapid error tone if the dialed number is longer than 20 elements.

To program an automatic pause for redialed numbers

While the telephone is on-hook, press the PROGRAM button
    Press [Redial]
Press the appropriate access code (such as 9) and number of pauses in order to have a long enough waiting time to obtain a second dial tone.
For example, if you need 2 pauses inserted between the access code and the remainder of the telephone number you are dialing, press the PAUSE button twice.
Note: You may store up to 3 different access code/pause combinations. Each code can have up to 3 characters and up to 4 pauses.
    Press the PROGRAM button again

To erase all stored access codes

    Press the PROGRAM button
    Press [Redial] twice
    Press the PROGRAM button again

Sorry - the procedure displayed as one paragraph. I'll try again:

    See if this helps:

    I found something else online:

To program Personal Speed Dial codes: 1. Lift the handset and dial #00 . 2. Dial # and the 2-digit code (01-24). 3. Dial ? 21 , the dial-out code if any, and the phone number. 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to program additional numbers. 5. Hang up.

To use a Personal Speed Dial code: Lift the handset and dial # and the code (01-24).

    To erase a Personal Speed Dial code: 1. Lift the handset and dial #00 . 2. Dial # and the 2-digit code (01-24). 3. Dial ? 21 . 4. Hang up

Does this phone have speaker phone, and if so how do i turn it on?

Yes, there is a speaker option. Holding the phone in your hand look down to the lowest row of buttons - below the * 0 # buttons. There are four buttons: from left to right they are SPEAKER; PAUSE/REDIAL; REMOVE/MUTE; and, INT (INTERCOM.) Pressing the left/SPEAKER button one time turns on this feature. Pressing this button turns OFF this feature. Hope this was helpful.
