Question about Nortel T7316E 2-Line Corded Phone

1 Answer

I just started working at a place with Norstar/CallPilot 100 and the previous receptionist left the call system in disarray with no one knowing how to change the admin selections. One problem is the phones all ring when calls from outside come in. A second more urgent problem is that when I do the F983 LOG 102000 I read invalid password. I also did F985 and it says my mailbox is 400 but my extension is 200. Any suggestions or sites to find more info? Thank you, Denise

    I actually figured out the invalid password and reset it. Having all extensions ring is the problem. I did find most manuals before this response, but was hoping for a bit of guidance as far as what area to check. Any more specific suggestions?

    I read and tested and discovered re-setting the phone system from scratch would be a huge undertaking and probably unnecessary for my problem. I found the terminal sets appr, appr-ring to be the culprit. I should have just kept reading before writing the experts. I like this site though, but was faster on my own this time. THANKS

    The programming instructions can be found in the user manual. Try re-programming the unit to your taste. But before starting first perform a system reset to clear off all the previous settings to enable the fresh programming to be easy to input.

Invalid feature and 2 lights lit

Two lights lit is the normal situation - it means that the two voicemail ports are connected to the Norstar System and active. Press "Feature 9 (star) 1" to view the CallPilot Feature Codes. Then enter System Administration feature code to begin programming the system.
Good Luck!

Yes, using CallPilot Manager (the CallPilot browser), you can import a *.vbk file. The CallPilot Player can convert *.wav files to *.vbk files.

CallPilot 100 Unplugged it and plugged it back

The CallPilot takes between 4 and 15 minutes (depending on software level) to boot up. After that, the lights should come on for each port connected to the telephone system. If not:
1. Check the wiring between the phone system and the CallPilot;
2. Make sure the wiring between the phone & voicemail systems is less than 50 ft. (15 meters);
3. Remove & reinsert he feature cartridge.
If still not working - the unit needs repair.

I have a callpilot 100/150 we acquired an add-on

First thing, the Call Pilot is your voicemail, not your telephone system. Your telephone system is most likely a Norstar CICs unit.

If the lines(trunks) are analog, it is the local telco provider that is handing out your caller ID.

Outgoing caller ID is not one of the features of the system for analog circuits. If you were running a PRI or BRI, then the system can hand out the caller ID. I would ask your telco provider to check the outgoing caller ID once again.
