Question about Husqvarna 450 e-series 18" Chain Saw

1 Answer

Thanks but my new model 450 doesn't have a blue choke like the others I have owned. This has a sngle lever and goes up to start and down to kill. I push it up, prime it,decompress and pull. It hits and then takes about 10 to 15 pulls to start. The saw is new. any help??? Andy Anderson.

The start procedure is done on one red lever, as you say prime till the bulb is 3/4 full, push deco vave in, pull the red lever out against the spring and right up, this engages choke and part throttle, pull until it fires once, push red lever down to dissengae choke, then pull again until it starts, flick the throttle trigger to release the part throttle and bring the engine to idle,if all is correct it should start within three to four pulls, if not it needs tuning on the carb screws.

My Toro Model 20070 that until now has always started on the first pull, won't start at all now. It started fine last week. It's getting spark (a little more yellow than blue). I replaced the plug,...

Hold the butterfly valve (behind air filter) open with a screwdriver, while somebody else tries to start it. Toro has had problems with atuomatic chokes. If it fires right up, thats the problem! If so, just wire it open, or contact Toro for a repair kit. Try using starting fluid, not carb cleaner, and spray directly into the head through the spark plug port. If you didn't do it already, blow out all the ports in the carb with compressed air, or carb cleaner. Also, be sure the safety lever is engaging correctly (top bar on handle) at the engine. Lawn mowers are pretty simple, so the problem is most likely simple too.

The bike is a 250 DT1 1972 model. I runs but I'm not sure in what position (up or down) the choke lever should be in. Thanks

If it's a butterfly style choke with a plate on the back of the carb, remove the boot that goes to the air cleaner and you'll be able to see the choke plate. If you can't get your head in there to see, stick a finger in there and operate the lever. When it's blocking the throat, it's on.
If the lever is in the front of the carb, it's not really a choke. It's an enrichening valve, that controls a brass valve that opens a port to allow extra fuel into the carb. Whatever direction of the lever pulls it up, that's on. Good luck, cool old enduro!

Bought a used 1996 kawasaki vulcan 750 with no choke cable. got a new cable and can't find where it goes. I where see where the end of the cable goes but don't see a bracket where it has to go...

Ignore all these idiots. The engine does not need to be remove. He must own a dealership. Simply remove the large air tubes to the right carb and move the left up out of the way. The bracket is on the left side, then feed the cable to the right between the carbs, a bit tricky. You'll see the choke lever on the back right of the carbs. insert in the cable holder. You have to bend the cable up to slip into the holder, the back down to lock it in. Before all of this, attach to the hand lever first.

Hi i have a 019 l stihl won't start plug is fairly new with my glasses on i can't read the position's to start and have no manual

Not a great Stihl fan, however they usually have a single stop start, choke and half throttle lever, depress the throttle trigger and at the same time pull the lever fully uplet go of the throttle trigger which should now be lock up, this will engage the part throttle and choke, crank the machine until it fires once, then move the lever down one notch and crank again until it fires up.

Have new 450 and is very difficult to start. Lost or didn't get book. How do I start it and re-start it while still warm??

Start procedure is, push the primer as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb ( you cannot over prime it ) pull the blue choke lever fully out, place the saw on the ground with your right boot through the back handle, crank the engine until it fires once, do not continue to crank the engine with the choke out ( they will not run on choke, only fire ) push the choke fully home, crank the engine until it starts, blip the throttle trigger to bring the saw to idle, warm engine, pull the choke fully out and push in again without cranking engine, this will engage the part throttle, crank the engine until it starts, blip the throttle to bring the engine to idle.

I just bought a 1999 Honda Aero and it did not come with an owner manual. Where is the choke on this bike. Is there any free down loads with "getting started" on the Honda Aero/shadow of this...

The choke is on your left hand handle bar, it is the black slide down lever. 1. Push the lever inward to choke the bike 2. give the throttle two turns and start the bike. ( do this so you don't drain your battery, even with a new battery you need give the bike the gas to start or you will have to recharge the battery) You will hear the engine change pitch when it warms up, push the choke upwards and the bike should idle on its own.
