Question about Toshiba 72HM196 72" Television
This can be a few things:
First, you will need to by-pass the lamp door sensor to "test" to see if it's not activating.
Secondly, you will need to locate the thermal fuse nearest the bulbs housing. This sits near the external of the bulb inside the tv.
Third, while you are checking the thermal fuse, see if the bulb is lighting at all. If the bulb does light you will be looking at a burnt DMD board. These get expensive, but worth checking.
Lastly, while you are looking for the thermal fuse INSIDE the tv, check your power supply for any popped capacitors.
Also, read your voltages on the ballast for the bulb itself. These are HIGH voltages, so make sure your multimeter can handle this.
Thank you and best of luck!

I followed the steps at the following link and it worked for me. I have a 2007 Toshiba Regza 42HL67, but the firmware applies to many models as documented in the readme file at the location found via the link below. I used a 1gb SD card formatted FAT16, copied the unzipped files and folder to the card (wasn't sure if it required the top level folder or only the files under the top level folder so I copied both to the root of the SD card), unplugged the TV, inserted the card, plugged in the TV, waited 2.5 minutes, unplugged the TV, removed the card, plugged in the TV, yellow light flashed 3 times and went out. I turned on the TV and it has worked normally since last night.
