Use a scribe or something with a hook on the end that will fit into the holes on the grill. Make sure you use the hook as close to any one of the four corners and pull until the grill cover pulls out. it is just a black pliable adhesive that holds them in.

How do I remove the mesh screen so that I can remove the speaker?

What brand and model of speaker are you referring to? If it was designed with a removable speaker grill, they grill with typically unsnap from 4 or 6 plastic snaps in the corners and possibly around the periphery.

How did debris get into your speaker?

You might try taking the woofer out by unscrewing all the screws that are holding it in from the front.

As for the grill repair? Are you handy with a hot glue gun and stapler?

Try stretching the fabric over the speaker frame and securing it with hot glue and/or staples. If you use a stapler, get one that fires flat staples not the rounded ones.

If the fabric is torn, find speaker fabric that is "acoustically transparent" commonly available from many sources in many fashionable colors.
you will have to remove the existing speaker fabric without damaging the frame. Scrape off any adhesive residue and remove any and all staples install your fabric by stretching and gluing/stapling the new fabric over the frame.

good luck.

Front speaker from my 600 isn't working

I just ran into this in 4 of my 5 DF Procimema 600 speakers. I ended up taking them all apart (be aware - this will probably void any warranty). To do this, you have to take the speaker grill off. Next, using a small phillips head screw driver, take out the top two screws on the front of the speaker. Note - everything you need to do will be from the front.. you don't actually remove anything from the top of the speaker. Next, using a pair of needle-nose plyers (or tweezers or whatever you have) remove the 6 little star-shaped plugs. These are where the spikes on the speaker grill insert to hold it in place. I thought they were some sort of weird screw at first until I removed one, then realized they are actually just a rubber plug. They pull right out - no twisting. Underneath them are 6 more phillips head screws - remove these and the front plate, speakers and all, will (should) pull right off without damage. The problem, well with all of my speakers at least, is that the connections inside come loose or fall off. I just took my needle-nose plyers and squeezed the connectors both where the wires run to the back of the case, and also to where they attach to the speaker. This literally solved all my problems and now my speakers work flawlessly again. Don't forget to put the white insulating material back in place before you put the speaker back together and you should be good to go. I hope this helps!

How to repair

Once you get the grill popped off, the screws are evident to remove for the woofer removal.

A stout putty knife keenly applied should get the grill off without damage.

NEED TO REPLACE REAR STRUTS HOW DO I GET TO THE STRUT MOUNTS 2001 BMW 740IL

I should not try to answer this as I have never seen the inside of a 2001 740 trunk but..........
I am pretty certain that you will need to pull up the trunk lining and it won't be easy. If you want to do this without damaging the lining, you will probably need to remove other parts, such as the rear deck speakers and likely the rear seat back, to get the lining out.
Or you can just take a box cutter to the lining at the top of the shock tower and glue it back when you are done. Much quicker.
How much do you care about how the inside of the trunk looks? Getting the rear speakers out of a 10-year-old BMW without damaging the speaker grills is tricky as well, and I would be a lot more worried about the appearance of my speaker grills than my shock towers.

I think I need to replace the tweeter in my EVID 3.2. How the heck do I remove the grill without damaging the unit?

The grill is glued on and will pop off with a little effort. Use a small pick tool (small pointy tool with a sharp hook) and carefully pry the screen away from the speaker. Try lightly prying in several spots so you don't warp or bend the screen. Let my know if you find replacement parts

How do you replace the front door speakers in a 1999 Model Hyundai Excel?

You have to take the door panels off.
The front speakers are 6"
So remove the front door panels, unbolt the factory speakers, bolt the new one in the existing holes, reinstall the door panels.
The grills will look factory, but you will have better speakers. Nice way to keep the good stuff hidden from prying eyes.
