Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Want to buy a used Whirlpool Dryer Model LEQ8858HQ1, it looks like brand new and has not been used much. Is there anywhere I can look to find reviews of this machine and it's matching washer? I would also like to know how old they are, they look new but it could be from not being used much.

Just do a Google search on your model number and type in how old it is.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

How do I find the model number on my regular Whirlpool gas dryer?

The model # is usual located on the inside frame of the door. Open the door and look where the door closes.

Brand new Duet Dryer - WED9400SZ model - just installed and connected - everything looks good. BUT, it won't start. All I hear is a beep sound? any setting to be turned on?

Make sure that the door is firmly closed and the light inside the drum goes out. I have model YWED9400SW (brand new) that had the same problem. The spring lock on the top was not fully engaging. Press firmly on the top and bottom of the door until the light goes out then press start. Good luck.

Our dryer has no heat. Is it worth fixing?

Hello ES Bailey,

The answer depends on a couple of other considerations first. If the dryer has been a good perfoming appliance for most of the time and hasn't had any major issues or constant repairs needed, it would be less expensive to repair the dryer than to buy new.

Some other things to consider, is the interior drum of the dryer still in good shape/condition? If so, repairs will be cheaper than buying a new dryer every time.

If the washing machine you have is getting ready for replacement, you might want to consider buying a whole new set of laundry appliances, but again, it makes more sense to buy only the appliance you need, rather than getting all new ones. Unless money isn't an issue and you're looking to get a newer style front loading washer, etc.

My only other advice is to say that there is nothing much in the way of technology or energy savings features for a dryer made today than one made 15 years ago. There is no such thing as an energy start rated dryer made anywhere in the world, unless you're hanging clothes on a clothesline to dry. So the only thing you'd get by buying a new dryer is, a new dryer at a higher price than the repair will be.

If it were me, I'd post a new question with the brand AND model number of the dryer and provide some details on gas or electric and so on and get some advice on how to fix the problem yourself and keep using it for years to come.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Dryer Stopped Heating

Use a multimeter to check the heating element. You can't always go by looks. Check continuity and if there is none, the element is defective. Another thing to check is the thermal fuse. It is about an inch long and is usually attached to the exhaust duct. Use the meter to check it as well and if defective, replace it. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

Not sure which freezer to buy?

If you want a manual defrost model they are all almost the same.
Manuel defrost is very simple, just compressor and thermostat. No fans or defrost system. The true indication of quality is the energy star rating. Look at the operating cost. The better made ones cost less to operate. Just shop by price and features you want. High temp warning, rapid freeze etc. Normally I would stay clear of the White/Westinghouse garbage(Gibson,Kelvinator, Frigidaire, etc.) in washers and dryers but in refrigeration they aren't too bad. It is really hard to tell anymore who actually makes what. They all seem to be buying each other out. GE sold out and doesn't make their own anymore, Whirlpool bought out Maytag, Jenn air, and Amana. Kenmore/Sears is mostly made by Whirlpool. I have trouble telling things apart anymore.

YLTE6234DQ2 - Dryer not heating up

Where is NA? Have you tried some websites for part resources? I found your part available at partstore.com. If you type in your model number, I found your element on page 15 as part #3387749. It lists for about $60. I hope this gives you a little more hope.

Error Code

I don't have a manual on the newest dryer like you have, but one of the models just older than yours has a F23 code that indicates a shorted thermistor.( temp sensor )
Since it is new you need to call for service. They will usually look up the code and tell you if it is anything you need to check but most likely you will need a repairman to repair it in warranty.
Post back if you have any questions.
