Disk doesn't match all in one printer. Printer is x1290 and disk supplied is for x1270. how do i get the correct disk.

After opening the link you'll be able to see a tab named publications, next to that tab there is another tab named downloads, from there select the windows version and download it. After download completes install it.

You can go to:

Lexmark X1290 Downloads

Make sure you have the correct one for your operating system - 32 bit or 64 bit. If you are not sure, you can go to Control Panel and select System. It will say 64-bit in the window. If it does not say 64-bit, assume it is a 32-bit.

When you go to download, choose Save from the download window and direct it to save the file to your Desktop.

You need to disconnect the USB cable, uninstall any previous software if it is on your computer and the printer from your Printers folder. (Through the control panel.)

Make sure the printer is on with ink and paper. Connect the USB cable. If (when) you get a New Hardware Found window, simply cancel it out.

Run (double-click) the file on your desktop that you downloaded. Follow the installation instructions. That should get you going.

Here is the link to Lexmarks download section on their site they have a 22 mb download that should match what was on the disk. Note any trial software will not be on there.

You will not know this until you get the cd. You could alternatively download the driver directly from the website of printer manufacturer. Sometimes one driver will suffice for a few models, even though they are a slightly different number. You would hope that they would send you the appropriate cd if this is the model you quoted.

The printer needs to be on in order to change the cartridges. When you open the lid the cartridges should move into view.
