Question about Patton SmartNode 4960 T1/E1/PRI VoIP IAD - 24 Channels Router (SN49604E24)

Open Question

I have a couple of problems: 1) I am unable to connect to my smartnode 4960 via a webbrowser, however able to connect via telnet. I am unfamiliar with the commands etc, hence i would like to connect through the web browser. 2) this is the reason why I need to connect to the smartnonde. Current setup: Smartnode 4960 connected to network with SIPxFoundry PBX system in place. I would like to use the function of Autoattendant (AA) to attend to all incoming calls. I have configured the AA within the PBX system, and internally, this all works fine. Now when I push all calls from external to the AA, the calls are just dropped. I am thinking this is a codec problem, and would like to check which codecs are enabled on the smartnode. If you possibly could assist in helping me find a solution, this would be greatly appreciated! Kind regards Cliff

Belkin N300 - CISCO Clean Access Agent

All configuration can be done with the router GUI.
Firewalls: Server Side Having a server side firewall is the typical configuration on many systems. There is only one method for doing this, whether you use telnet or ssh: map a port to be forwarded to the server in the firewall router. It is not advised that you use telnet from the Internet for security reasons; that is usually why you have a firewall.Decide which method of connectivity will be allowed, and determine what port you will use to forward to this service. If there is only one server involved, you can use port 22 for ssh or 23 for telnet and forward them straight through to the server. But if there are several servers involved and they do not have public IP addresses, you will need to pick different ports on the firewall router and let the router forward those ports to the different internal servers.

Access denied

yes, you should be able to connect to the console port using a roll-over cable RJ45-DB9, connect using hyper terminal or similar using the com port settings 9600,8,N,1
You can then configure the switch from the CLI...

Have you set the 'Login' command on the VTY lines in the switch setup and an IP address on the management VLAN to connect to.
You also HAVE to have a password enabled on the vty lines in order to connect via telnet.

hope this helps.

Where is the password located at

Hey, the Netopia routers do not have a default username and password. If a password is already set up, you might need to reset the router.

In order to log into the router you need to Telnet into it.
If you are using Windows XP, you can start Telnet from Start>Accessories>Communications>Telnet

if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, Telnet is not enabled by default. You need to enable it first. You can quickly re-enable Telnet by following these steps:

Start
Control Panel
Programs And Features
Turn Windows features on or off
Check Telnet Client
Hit OK

After that you can start Telnet via Command Prompt. (or the Start menu)

then once you get into the Telnet Console, type in:
192.168.1.1

and the router interface will open up and let you chanfge settings.

After making changes in the config via telent the router hangs, this does not happen when the serial interface is used

Did you do anything that would affect the traffic between the computer you were using and the interface that you were telnetting too? For example If you changed the IP address or password from the Fa0/0 and you were telnetting to that router, the connection would look like its hanging, but would be disconnected.

Adtran Telnet

Are you getting any failure msgs? Where are you telnetting from? Has your router been restarted? If you have web access turned on the router, you might be able to login via your browser, or you could directly connect to your router via a console cable to check your configuration.
