Try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this will schedule on a restart then defragment your hard drive or

most motherboards natively (now adays) support up to 1.5 tb on a single disk. with most bio's now being upgraded to support upwards of 3tb on a single disk via a bios update you just need to update your bios from intel's website and be good to go!

My pc have a following configuration:1 gb ram, npentium d processor, intel 945 original motherboard recently i change my 80 gb hard disk to 500gb new harddisk but pc get hang even if pc is clean formatted...

WOW- a really tough one... it sounds like a BIOS conflict.

My best advice is to go to the Intel website and check the known issues forum and see if the problem has been identified. It sounds like you are pretty good with computers and that did everything right, and that is why I suspect a BIOS problem with your particular configuration.

Intel is very good about putting updates out, so see if there is a BIOS upgrade for your motherboard. Be certain to follow the procedure EXACTLY if you need to "flash" your BIOS. It is critical that you back up your BIOS as specified, so if there are any problems, you can go back to your current configuration. Good Luck!

Pc hang up at f2 after bios update

Try downgrading the BIOS to a previous version then load setup defaults. After that update it again with the latest BIOS version. If it does the same thing then the bios package that you downloaded could be corrupt, you may need to download it from a different location.

What is the model of your intel motherboard?

Thanks

Update BIOS to P25 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&Inst=Yes&ProductID=948&DwnldID=10130&strOSs=44&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional&lang=eng

Reset BIOS to default settings.

Check CPU Temperature, Prescott CPUs run hot.

If board is under 3 years old and was a retail box package, it will be under warranty, contact Intel.
