Question about Bosch Dishwasher Timer Control Unit 092190

1 Answer

My maachine which although 25 years old has been little used has a fault where it stops half way through one of programmes in the middle of the segment designated by what looks like a brush, as in dustpan and brush. If i turn the controller through half an inch it completes the wash programme. Any ideas? I would be really grateful for any advice. thankyou. nick dawson This is a Bosch S210 of the late 1980s

A few possible reasons why this happens:
1. The mechanism (usually a plastic shaft) has dirt on it causing a contact to not close properly.
2. An electrical contact is worn and no longer makes reliable contact.
3. Dirt on or in a contact causing it to not close properly.

Spares for any old machine is always a problem, and considering the complexity of the rotary switch mechanism, I'm extremely hesitant to suggest the methodologies required for fault-finding, and repair, since a custom repair requires tools that many simply don't have at their disposal.
Suffice it to say that (at least) you need a multimeter, and a thin insulated shaft for contact activation to get started. You would have to manually rotate the knob, and see which contacts are closing, and measure them (at the points where the wires connect - NOT on the contact themselves) to determine if they are indeed making contact. The insulated shaft is used as a probe, to lightly move suspect contacts into the closed position, and confirm where the problem lies.
If a contact seems to close, but does not make contact, then check aforesaid contact for wear and dirt. Check the lobe on the plastic cam for dirt build-up which will also cause the contact to not close properly

Oh yes, don't forget to unplug the unit from the mains before proceeding.
All things considered, it might be prudent to retire the machine.

Although the manufacturer only give a 12 month guarantee it is down to the retailer to sort faults. Under statutory rights you have up to 5 years to male a complaint. Get a quote for repairs and issue a claim in the small claims court.

Surface area =300 square feet 25 year old ash

Ash fault? I think you mean "asphalt" but that's OK. You haven't given enough information to solve the problem, but here's what you need to do.

You know the area of the roof is 300 square feet (sq ft). You should know the area of each asphalt shingle, although that's the information you didn't give. When you know that figure, the calculation is very simple:

number of shingles needed = area of roof / area of one shingle

I don't know if this is a class problem, or if you really have a roofing job. Don't forget that on a real roof, the shingles overlap. If you do the calculation, the number you get is right only if you lay the shingles edge-to-edge. A real-world roof would need probably twice that number. Shingles come packed in bundles, and they usually tell you the area they cover. (By the way, 100 square feet is termed a "square".)

Denon Stereo audio cassette deck DR-M30HX traction prob thin tape

Belts for decks are universal, there are plenty of places on the web selling them. Parts for a Denon from 25 years ago is another matter. However I think you might need only the belts, as the longer tapes speed problems suggest that it's the load that's causing the belts to struggle. All you need to do is measure the diameter of any belts for replacement. HOWEVER before you remove them make a note, or photographer, how and where they fit.
Use Servisiol Video 40 to clean the rollers and head.

Dvd stops burning

depending on how old your drive is, it could be the laser is faulting, or you may need to update the firmware. If the laser is at fault try a lens cleaner cd and if no change try the below solution or you mayneed to replace the drive as they are inexpensive to replace. There could be a problem with the burning programme, so try a different one if possible, ensure you have adequate memory for the burning process of the disc and enough hard drive space for the burning programme to save the temp image to your drive before burning.
