Question about Canon PIXMA MP540 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Is it not possible for a Canon "expert" to give a single solution answer to the error "6C10" that so many of us seem to get. The rest of the printer functions are fine. It's not particularly old (about 3 years) and certainly hasn't had much use. But when trying to copy I get the 6C10 error message and cannot copy. Very annoying.

Hello pattrickdavi
Try this solution :
Start with printer off

  1. Press and hold resume Button (triangle in the circle) and click "Power" button. Green led should be on
  2. While holding the Power button, release the Resume Button.
  3. Without releasing the Power Button, click "Resume" button for two times and release Both Buttons.
  4. Click "Resume" for four times then soon click "Power" button, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber).
  5. Turn off the printer and turn on again This solution came from and seems to work with several issues . Good luck ! fanaudi .

How to get the best answer from an Expert on FixYa

Do you really want to know how to fix your issue?<br />Want the best possible answer?<br />Then give us as much information as you can gather about your problem!<br /><br />Questions like "need driver" are pointless because the experts then have no idea what you need drivers for, or what you're trying to do.<br />You may not even need drivers at all, who knows, we certainly don't because you have said nothing about what you are trying to accomplish with what equipment.<br />A better example is "I have an Acer Aspire 5732z, and my acer crystal eye web cam doesn't take pictures or Videos. The video window is just plain black how do i fix it? Do I need a new driver?"<br /><br />In this case, it's likely a setting of some form and not a driver issue at all, but at least the expert that tackles this issue has enough information to give good solid advice or a solution in a single response.<br /><br />Help yourself by helping the experts and you'll get much better help in return !!!!<br />

I have a canon MP550 which has thrown up the error 6C10. I have tried the solutions suggested at FixYa, but to no avail. My printer's only 6 months old. Any suggestions? Regards Jan

It is my pleasure to guide you.

I have done some extensive research on your 'error 6C10'.

I have looked at the following:

PIXMA MP500 Printer
Canon Pixma MP500 Service Manual

2-2. Service Call Errors (by Cyclic Blinking in Orange (Alarm LED) and Green (ON/OFF button), or Alarm LED Lit in Orange)

Cycles of blinking in orange (Alarm LED) and green (ON/OFF button) 16 times

Error [Error code] Valve sensor error [6C00]

Conditions An error occurred in the valve sensor during cleaning.

Solution(Replacement of listed parts, which are likely to be faulty) - Logic board ***'y (QM2-3078)

I realize that the '6C00' error is not exactly your but the manual does not have the 6C10. You can download that at the above link.

I also look at the Canon Pixma MP500 Users Guide Manual. There are several codes but not the 6C10. You can download this above as well.
Good luck and please post back that you are successful, giving thumbs up, or if I can be more helpful.

My Canon MP630 has a 6C10 error

You have a "Valve Cam sensor error". Usually caused by paper debris inside the printer, probably near the purge unit.

Have a ggod look inside and see if you can see any bits of paper.

I'm not really sure what "surendrapell" was trying to say here, but the following expert "pineworks" on fixya resolved this problem for me completely.

Here is the link:

I had this same problem, too, and tried to fix it for about three months and couldn't. I had to keep restarting and unplugging the printer, over and over... then back to Error 6C10 again. I finally found this suggestion by "pineworks" that has resolved this completely for me. Hope this helps someone else:
