Question about Intermatic R8806P101C - Sprinkler-Irrigation Timer - 14-Day Skipper - NEMA

1 Answer

I have a Toro LawnMaster Model 53603 Sprinkler Timer. When it gets to station #5, it displays Short #5. I have tried changing out the actual wire and the connection at both the timer & the solanoid & it still flashes Short #5. If I swap #4 with 5, the short follows the wire. Any suggestions ?.

Hi,
From what you are saying, it would seem as though the solenoid has shorted. The coils in the solenoid can and do short. Unhook the wire from the solenoid and see if the message goes away...

The other way to check for a short is with an OHM meter. Using one of them you can quickly track down what is shorted out.

I have an older Toro residential irrigation timer. I don't know the model number. How do I find the model number?

Call Toro Tech. help and describe the timer to them and they should be able to guess the model. Sorry, don't have Toro's number because I will not use anything made by Toro. If it was me I would replace the timer. .

Toro Visiion Sprinkler Controller Troubleshooting

There are two Toro timer manuals posted:
Copy following links, for ez word search for each manual:

The timer can be reset to factory defaults by 'clearing program memory' following steps in manual.
Warranty period is 1 year protection against defects in workmanship, which is standard for timers from Woods to Intermatic to GE etc.

If the display is not working, and zone does not show, then that implies internal defect, or lack of power. Resetting timer might repair problem.
The timer has electro-magnetic relays, and not an internal solenoid.
The timer turns ON or turns OFF electric power to the water valves.
Water valves have solenoids that open and close when power from timer arrives at each zone.
The solenoid can make the sound you describe, but the timer relays with make small click sound as the electromagnetic relay opens and closes.

In addition to resetting timer to factory defaults, and then reprogramming you might try changing wires to different terminals.

Also the timer works on 24Volt AC transformer that plugs into outlet. It is possible to get display errors on timers when voltage is incorrect, or outlet and transformer are not connected well. Test outlet with circuit analyzer. Change outlet because outdoor outlets get corroded. Clean blades on transformer plug.

Power surge and other events can damage timers. Nearby lightning strike. Power outage causes surge when power resumes.

There is 24-hour backup battery, but the battery does not appear to be replaceable type and instead is rechargeable or capacitor type backup. So the battery is probably not the problem

Model 57882 9 station timer I did set up station 1 where do I begin in order to set up station 3

Question is not clear.
Do you have programming problem with the timer?
Or problem locating sprinkler heads?
Or a sprinkler valve problem?
Add a comment with detailed information.

Sprinkler timer turns ON-and-OFF.
Timer does not advance the sprinkler to next station. The sprinkler valve advances to next station when timer turns OFF.
For example, when timer turns ON, then station 1 starts watering.
Timer turns off, and then sprinkler valve automatically advances to station 2.
Timer turns on again, and station 2 starts watering.

Toro lawn Master ll timer (53805) keeps repeating station cycles even though I only use Program A with weekly , time starts, zone times, " 0's" on Program B & C and"...

The "start times" are often mistaken for zone start times with this model. These times are actually if you want your sprinkler to run/start more than once a day. If you only want your sprinkler to run once a day, then you should set start times number 2 and 3 to "OFF". The "OFF" setting is between 11:45pm and 12:00am as you cycle through time settings.
This is not in the manual. You're welcome!

How do you wire a Toro Rain Sensor 53769 to Intermatic Timer T8845PV

The rain sensor only connects to Intermatic sprinkler timer IF the timer has the rain sensor terminals.
Not all Intermatic sprinkler timers have that connection.
For example R8815P101C and R8816P101C have rain sensor terminals

I think the rain sensor terminals are located to the right of main wiring terminal block.
There are two screw terminals.

The rain sensor plugs into a power source, and then sensor wires connect to the timer.
Apply no voltage to the sprinkler timer terminals.
