A Camera Labs review of this camera, November 2008, states, "If the screen is folded back on itself, the DISP button only switches between the two EVF modes." (EVF = Electronic View Finder.) i.e. it is not affecting the screen at all.
On my Canon 60D with a similar folding screen the same appears to be the case but, if I fold back the screen while it is functioning it works OK.
Also, I noticed that pressing several other buttons on the back of the camera effects changes to the screen. Might be worth trying these on your camera.

Fit

hi there!
The program doesn't fit on computer screen because the resolution of computer screen is too low. could you right click on the desktop and change resolution of screen to higher. I guest your current is 800x600. Change it to higher will fix your problem.
( another way to change to enter button is using Tab key on the keyboard. Every time you hit Tab key, it will move to next button on the program.Try Tab and hit Enter on the keyboard.)
Hope this will help.

How to check if your remote control is sending a signal

If your remote control doesn't seem to any longer work with your TV, DVD or Blu-ray player, home theater system, etc., there's a quick and easy test you can do to check if your remote is sending a signal out. This test only works with infrared remote controls.

Check using an iPhone, iPad, Android, or Windows Phone device with a front-facing camera
  1. Open the Camera app on your device and set it to use the front-facing camera. You should be able to see yourself like in a mirror.
  2. Point your remote at your phone's camera (usually above the screen) and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

Using an Android or Windows Phone device without a front-facing camera
  1. Open the Camera app on your device. You should be able to see what's behind your phone from this view.
  2. Point your remote at the back of your phone, aiming in the direction of your camera, and and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

Using a digital camera or camcorder with an LCD display
  1. Power on your camera or camcorder and remove any lens caps, filters, or covers. The end of the lens should be free of any accessories.
  2. Set your device's preview mode to LCD or Display (this varies by model). The screen should now show you a preview of what your lens sees.
  3. Point your remote towards the camera's lens and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

Using a webcam
  1. Open an app or program on your computer or laptop that shows your webcam't output (Skype, FaceTime, Camera, etc.)
  2. Point your remote at your computer's webcam (usually above the screen) and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

If you tried any of the above and saw a light coming from the end of your remote, the issue may very well be with your unit's sensor that picks up the signals from your remote, and the unit may need to be serviced or replaced.

If you don't see a light coming from the remote, and new batteries don't fix it, then you should definitely consider replacing the remote itself. Monitor does not light up at all.

Did she spill something on it? Have you tried to make sure it's not an issue with your bright and dark buttons or keys on the keyboard?

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barely see the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash light and nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card is bad.

Hi and sorry to have bother you......I have my computer connected to TV monitor.... Before it would show the two screen, the comp and the tv. I went to hit the number lock and i hit the Scr LK button by...

On laptops both the laptop LCD screen and the external video port can be toggled to show laptop LCD, external vodeo and bothe laptop LCD and external video.
You need to press and hold down the Fn key and one of the function keys that has the monitor symbol, repeated pressing this function key will toggle the video outputs.
I cannot advise you which function key works with your laptop as they vary between different laptop manufacturers.

- try to plug an external monitor on your laptop
- if you can see a screen on the external monitor, then you have a faulty LCD
- if you don't see anything on the external monitor, then you have a faulty motherboard

When you hit the on button you only see on screen is black. what's wrong with my laptop?

Hi,

If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.

Here are some steps that you can try.

1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left from the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)

2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor. You may need to press the Fn + F10 or F6, depends on the key designed on the keyboard to toggle between displays.

3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.

4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit, try using one RAM at a time to see if it works. A faulty RAM will cause the issue not to POST.

5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

I was dusting my acer monitor and microsoft wireless keyboard and i must have hit something because now my monitor is reading sideways and the mouse wont work with it either. Can you tell me what I need to...

Sounds like you changed the orientation of your display settings from landscape to portrait.
In Windows 7 you can go to the control panel, choose display and click "Change Display Settings" on the left side.

From there choose the "Orientation" dropdown and change to your desired setting (most likely landscape)

Good luck

No display, nothing on screen

Try to hit the Fn+F8 button at the same time 5 or 6 times. This is what is used to turn off your LCD to plug it to a projector or to use a different screen. If that does not work then try to find a desktop monitor and plug it into the 9-pin slot on your laptop. Again hit the FN+F8 buttons again, if the display shows up on the desktop screen then you know that something has burnt out your LCD screen on your laptop.
