Have you tried resetting the device by pushing the reset button or removing and reinstalling the battery?

How to fix My Passport Hard Disk 1 TB which is not working and showing error 0x8007041D I have my essential data in this device. How can I retrive the data from this device.

Hi there,
The mentioned error may be related to your anti virus software. Check the device on another PC to confirm where the issue comes from. If you have this option, disable or uninstall your current anti virus software and reinstall My Passport's drivers from Device Manager. Anyways, this error is OS related and your HDD should be fine.

Gateway mp8708 s/n t23691006485 showing disk error won't boot just shows disk error help me

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My LaCie Rugged Hard Disk wont show up on my computer!!! need help asap or im getting firered!!

External hard disks can fail for a number of reasons, but check the device manager and disk management first to see if it is recognized (assuming you are using Windows).

Windows cannot recognize my western digital external hard drive. I am getting an error msg: "Windows cannot recognize this device". I need to retrieve my files! Help!

The device has suffered a major failure. If you're lucky it's in the electronics of the case so take it apart, extract the hard disk inside, put it in another external case (or directly inside a desktop) and access it this way. If even then the disk isn't recognized then the hard disk itself has died and all the data on it is lost.

Won't Boot up

An electrical surge would normally burn an enclosure's power electronics, making it incapable of "translating" between your PC USB port and the internal hard disk.

Assuming it's not the USB port which died (try another USB slot to be sure), the disk and its data may be accessed in two ways.

One: dismantle the WD unit, extract the hard disk, and plug it internally into a desktop PC with an appropriate free internal interface (EIDE or SATA), so that no translation is necessary. Data access will also be way faster.

Two: again extract the hard disk, but remount it into an empty USB enclosure - ideally another WD - so that the USB-to-disk translation will take place once more.

Option #2 may be undertaken by the majority of competent PC shop clerks and should cost between US$ 20 and US$ 50, USB enclosure included. Repair shops will often have empty enclosures (maybe even WD's) with good electronics where the internal disk died, e.g. because of a fall.

I have intel dg31 motherboard and sumsung hard disk. it show agian agian system 32 error. how to solve it. so it is hard disk problem or motherboar.

Your hard drive is set for master. Do you have other device connected? It shows in the BIOS? This error happen when trying to re format. You need to re format with a copy that will do it. I think you format isn't completely formatting.

IO Device Error

My Maxtor died like this. The disk was OK, it was the electronics that blew. I bought a new empty disk drive box and fitted the disk drive and fixed it. Years later the disk still works in the replacement box and power supply. I got my files and data back with the disk drive in the new box. The size of that disk looks small today. It may be Parallel (PATA) and you need a PATA box, that is harder to find as obsolete. You need to try the disk first in another drive holder.

So PATA and SATA??? Look here and read up about it with pictures too:
https://askleo.com/whats_the_difference_between_sata_and_pata_and_ide/

An external disk unit has three main parts.
1. The disk drive.
2. The electronics box.
3. The power supply.
