    Hello PCtech1:

I have both manuals and am quite familiar on how to program the channels and frequencies of both radios. I did exactly as you described above before I e-mailed FixYa and was not able to get the two Motorolas to talk to each other. There must be something I am missing because these two radios are supposed to be able to communicate with each other according to the literature I have read. By the way, I have had the Motorola MU22CV for over 12 years and am quite familiar with changing channels and frequencies on this radio. I recently purchased the Motorola CLS1410 and am very frustrated....Any help would be appreciated besided referring me to the manual.

Motorola CLS1410:
To talk with someone on your two-way radio, the channel (CLS1410 only), frequency, and interference eliminator code must be the same on both radios.

Entering Programming Mode

  1. Press and hold Push to Talk and MON for 3 seconds while turning the radio on. The radio beeps and displays PROG, the channel number flashes, and the frequency (indicated by FREQ) and code (indicated by CODE) display alternately.
  2. Note: If you press and release the Push to Talk button when programming CSL1410 models, you will return to the front of the Programming Mode.
Selecting a Channel (CLS1410 Only)
  1. In programming mode, press MENU until the channel number flashes and the frequency and code display alternately (this is the first setting after you enter programming mode).
  2. Press - or + to select the channel.
  3. Press and hold Push to Talk to exit programming mode, or press MENU to continue programming.
Programming the Frequency
  1. In programming mode, press MENU until FREQ displays and the frequency number flashes.
  2. Press - or + to select the frequency.
  3. Press and hold Push to Talk to exit programming mode, or press MENU to continue programming.
  4. Note: See page 39 of the manual for information on frequencies for communicating with other business radios. If you are matching your CLS Series radio to an existing Spirit GT radio, see page 45 of the manual.

Motorola M-Series MU22CV:
To talk to others in your group, all radios must be set to the same channel and code.

To Change Frequency and Code Settings

1-CHANNEL MODELS
  1. Hold the Push-To-Talk button down while turning the radio on (turning the On/Off Volume knob at the top of the radio). The radio announces the current frequency setting. For example, it might say, "Frequency one."
  2. Press the Push-To-Talk button to scroll through frequencies. The radio announces each frequency as you scroll. For example, it might say, "Two...three...."
  3. Release the Push-To-Talk when you've reached the desired frequency.
  4. Press the Monitor button to select and save the new frequency setting. The radio announces the current code setting. For example, it might say, "Code two nine."
  5. Press the Push-To-Talk button to scroll through the codes. The radio announces each code as you scroll. For example, it might say, "three zero...three one..."
  6. Release the Push-To-Talk button when you've reached the desired code.
  7. Press the Monitor button to select and save the new code setting. The radio beeps to indicate that it has exited programming and is ready for use.
2- AND 4-CHANNEL MODELS
  1. Turn the Channel Selector knob to Channel 1
  2. Hold the Push-To-Talk button down while turning the radio on (turning the On/Off Volume knob at the top of the radio). The radio announces the current frequency setting for that channel. For example, it might say, "Frequency one."
  3. Press the Push-To-Talk button to scroll through the frequencies. The radio announces each frequency as you scroll. For example, it might say, "Two...three...."
  4. Release the Push-To-Talk when you've reached the desired frequency.
  5. Turn the Channel Selector knob to channel 2 and repeat steps 3 and 4. For the 4-channel models, repeat to set channels 3 and 4.
  6. Press the Monitor button to select and save the new frequency setting. The radio announces the current code setting. For example, it might say, "Code two nine."
  7. Press the Push-To-Talk button to scroll through the codes. The radio announces each code as you scroll. For example, it might say, "three zero...three one..."
  8. Release the Push-To-Talk button when you've reached the desired code.

To talk with someone on your two-way radio, the channel,
frequency, and interference eliminator code must be the same on both
radios. You will need to refer to the frequency codes in the back of both manuals to get the codes matched. If you still cannot talk between the 2 radios after the channel, frequency, and interference eliminator code are the same, please contact Motorola for further assistance or repairs.
