SOURCE: nedd help with my car audio

Here's your best bet. Crutchfield magazine has THE best site for training. The link to the page for you is http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
You will need to know how many voice coils your sub has, how many ohms and how many channels you amp has, then click the appropriate link. Good luck and don't forget to leave "FixYa" for feedback.

SOURCE: i want to hook up my 2 quad coil woofers to a 1ohm amp but

I would look up "series" and "parallel" wiring on the net. Parallel will lower your ohms, which is good- especially for you since your amp is 1ohm. use 1 channel of your amp (unbridged...bridging an amp could increase output, but will Raise the ohms) connect the positive terminal with a wire that goes to the positive on your first sub, and from there, connect a wire from that same positive terminal to the positive terminal on your second sub. do the same thing with the neg. wire. This is called parallel wiring.

Sound like both. But the amp is fried now. It is fixable you have to replace the transistors that is attached to the heatsink. Its a job and a half and need soldering skills.
Parts are just a few bucks on line. What you need to do is open up the amp and disasemble the whole thing. Take the motherboard off completly and look at the transistors for the part number. find the part number and go to this website for a cross-refference fot an NTE part number. http://nte01.nteinc.com/nte/NTExRefSemiProd.nsf/$$Search?OpenForm. Once located the NTE part number. Go to http://parts-express.com/ and search the NTE part number in the search box. Hope this helps.

What would the best way hooking up a 15" memphis dual voice coil sub ran with a 1000 watt memphis d amplifier??

If the amp is a 2 channel I would hook up each voice coil to a different channel. Also, make sure you hook your amp up as close to the sub as possible. With a sub that size you need to eliminate any delay in signal transfer because the sub is so larg.

How to hook it up to system with two 10s 400 watts per sub and two 6x9s at 200 watts each?,subs behind seats, 6x9s in doors. IF i need another amp i have one,to help push. But either way i need your help...

Hello www_mitzjohn,

I'd definitely use another amp.

The 2-channel Sony is well suited for powering the 6X9's but a monoblock would be better for the subs. The different types of speakers running from the same channel will not sound very good and likely it'll be impossible to get the impedances to match.

You'll want to set the Sony to send higher frequencies to the 6X9's, but not to the subs. You can't adjust the channels individually. So, just connect each 6X9 to one channel of the Sony and use a monoblock subwoofer amp for the subs.

Hope this helps.

2 L5 12'S 2OHM

I like JL Audio's products and in this case a 1000/1 would match these subs really well considering that each sub is rated at 600 watts RMS. I know that you want to bring these subs to the max and if you're not worried about blowing them up you can use two JL Audio 1000/1's, the JL amps have something called ohm matching and can put out 1000watts RMS at any load between 2ohms and 16ohms. A very use full feature - as well as a subsonic filter that can keep out the bass you can't hear and thus keep your subs alive longer especially if you plan to max em' out. Check out Ebay for good prices on JL Audio. Another choice might be an Audiobahn 2300, or preferably an 1800d. D class amps are best for max output and I've wired an Audiobahn 1800d down to a 1 ohm load (to two dual 4 ohm 15" Cerwin Vega Strokers paralleled down) and it was able to stay alive, but this was not used for prolonged listening (Short bursts for SPL comps). Good luck and I'll leave you with an old trick I used to use on my clients SPL Comp cars. Run an in-line fuse to each sub - start at about a 100amp fuse (1,000w @ 12v = 120 amp draw) and move it up if it blows too early, fuses are cheaper than subs! Let me know what box you are running as it must be built specifically for running the subs all-out. You can e-mail me @ (dynami28@charter.net) for free specs on basic enlosures.

Your sub or amp is probably blown. Do you get any power to the amp? try hooking up another speaker and seeing if you get any signal at all.

ELA 500.I

While I don't have any first-hand experience with either Bazooka amps or Memphis subs, this review pretty much says what I initial thoughts were. The amp will do the job without much fuss, so it mainly depends on whether you can get it for a good price.
BUT........
There could be a issue with your sub. According to Memphis, your sub (assuming it's the single voice coil version) is only good for about 250W RMS (let's ignore peak power for now). The ELA500.1, on the other hand, puts out 375W RMS at 4 ohms. You could very easily overpower your sub with that amp.
