Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
"Fdl" is a failure of the door latch assembly. This is an indication that the Central Control Unit (CCU) does not detect the latch locking properly. You can doublecheck the connector plugs to the latch to ensure they are in place, but most commonly, the latch requires replacement. This is a very simple repair job. The following link explains how to replace:
I have found two very good websites that carry the latch assembly. Go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your complete model number. There should be a door latch heading on the next page, with an illustrated view of all the parts and part numbers. This is an excellent site for component location. Repairclinic.com sometimes will carry the same part at a cheaper price, however. I usually use the first website to identify the part and part number, then take this information and do some comparative shoppinig. If you do not wish to order on line, use the part number provided by Sears and take it to your nearest appliance parts retailer. If you have questions, or require further assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
