SOURCE: We keep receiving a T.30 Protocol Trace Report

If this is printing out and consuming a lot of paper it can get annoying. This report is intended for a technician to trace problems with your machine. The report basically tells you that your fax attempt failed and gives all the technical settings. To the average user this is meaningless. The print feature for this is normally turned off, but I have seen a few cases where the default was set to print. Under the diagnostics menu, find the T-30 error setting and set it to never. Check the firware on your printer to make sure it is current. Print the configuration page and check the firmware version on the front page. The current version is 48.181.8. There are many modem fixes included with the firmware.

SOURCE: xerox cannot scan to home folder.....error 027-516

home directories mustbe on the same server as ads is, meaning if you setup xerox ldap lookups on server SERVER1 with ip of 192.168.1.50 then the home dirs have to be on the same or an additional domain controller, Xerox software is stupid to this matter and does not like cross server home directories.

How do I Scan from a C2020?

In regards to scanning from a Canon ImageRunner to a Mac, this used to be done via SMB. But then Apple modernized the SMB protocol in Lion & Mountain Lion & Mavericks, and Canon decided to remain in the dark ages with their old-fashioned SMB protocol support. So therefore, Canon ImageRunners are now incompatible with Lion (OS X 10.7) & Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) & Mavericks (OS X 10.9) & Yosemite (OS X 10.10) & El Capitan (OS X 10.11) for scanning via SMB.
The solution is that we now have to use the FTP protocol for scanning, when scanning from a Canon ImageRunner to a Mac running Lion (OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) or Mavericks (OS X 10.9) or Yosemite (OS X 10.10) or El Capitan (OS X 10.11).
To use the FTP protocol, you first need to enable it on your Mac by going into the Terminal and typing this command:
sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
After enabling FTP via the Terminal, go into the Sharing system preference. Enable File Sharing in the left margin. Add the shared folder where you want the scans to end up. We usually like to create a folder on the Desktop entitled "Canon Scans", so you can just drag this folder into the list of folders. Click on the "Options" button to make sure that AFP is enabled, but you do NOT need to enable SMB.
Now you can go into the Network system preference where you will need to manually assign a static IP address for your machine. The Canon ImageRunner will need this static IP address so that it can find your Mac.
Once you've done all of the above, you can now create a new "one touch entry" on the Canon ImageRunner printer to scan to the shared folder on the Mac.
To do this, click on the physical button on the copier that says "Additional Functions", then press "Address Book Settings".
Then, on the Canon ImageRunner screen, press "One Touch Buttons".
On the next screen, press an existing name to edit it, or press a numbered button to edit a new name. (You can scroll through the pages with the arrows on the right.) You must press the "Register/Edit" button to add or edit that button.
If you're adding a new button, then on the next screen, you'll have to press "File".
Then you'll be taken to the next screen. The information to type in is the following:
Name: Give the button a name
One-touch Button Name: Give the button a short name that will fit on a button.
Protocol: FTP
Host Name: The static IP address that you assigned to the Mac. Do NOT use any special characters or slashes... just enter the IP address.
Folder Path: shared folder name. The trick to this is that you have to give the path from the starting point of the home folder. So if the shared folder is named "Canon Scans" and it sits on the desktop, then type in this file path: "Desktop/Canon Scans" (without the quotes).
User: the full account name of the account which owns the shared folder.
Password: the password for the account which owns the shared folder.
And that's it! You are now all set to scan from your Canon ImageRunner to your Mac!

C2102 error code

2102 is a scan error. it depends on what protocol you are using (SMB, SMTP, FTP?) but check the TCP/IP info for the copier and make sure the DNS servers are correct. Try using IP addresses instead of URLs or hostnames to eliminate DNS resolution issues. Check username and password for authentication processes. See the operations guide for details on setting up scan

SMB

check if there's an error code in the completed queue.
Also it would be helpful to know what kind of operating system is on your computer since MAC and Windows 8 are not that easy through SMB.
Check if you shared the file on your computer to full acces rights

How to sync verizons LG 840 with a mac computer to sync music photos etc.

For a MAC, I believe you need an SMB application. This is not free for mobiles, but I'm not sure on the MAC. SMB is a file sharing protocol that is standard for Windows file share and transfer. Apple has their own protocol that is exclusive Apple. The SMB interface app allows you to share files with a Win computer via local LAN. I do this with WiFi on my Android - PC. Really nice for quickly posting pics to net drive when you get home from outing. The Android mobile app on my LG Lucid that I use is Ghost Commander. It's a bit clunky, but once it's set up it's great for getting files from PC or posting pics-vids etc from smart phone. There are Apple SMB apps for iPhone, to do this, but the Android was free.so my LG won this personal use setup.

  • When you go to the Connect to Server dialog, you may browse the names of computers that are on your local subnet.
  • You can connect to a server via its IP address or DNS name. If it is required or more convenient in your environment, you may also use other valid URL formats, such as:
    smb://ServerName/ShareName smb://DOMAIN;User@ServerName/ShareName
  • The name of the "share" (the shared disk, volume, or directory) must be specified. You will not be prompted for it.
  • You cannot type spaces as part of the share name when connecting. In place of any space in the share name, type: %20 .
  • When troubleshooting a connection issue, you can ping the IP address of the Windows PC using the Mac OS X Network Utility application (in the Utilities folder). A successful ping verifies a TCP/IP connection between the two computers. This is an important first troubleshooting step when there's no response or a timeout for a connection attempt, since SMB connections involving a Mac require TCP/IP. However, a successful ping does not mean the SMB service is also working or available.
  • Check Microsoft support resources for information about setting up file sharing on your Microsoft Windows-based computer. These may include Help files installed on your PC or the Microsoft online Knowledge Base. For example, see this article for Windows XP information: How to use the Simple File Sharing feature to share files in Windows XP.
  • When troubleshooting an SMB connection issue, use Console, which is located in the Utilities folder. These Console logs may help advanced users identify an issue: private/var/log/samba, private/var/log/kernel.log, system.log . Note that some log files only appear when logged into Mac OS X with an administrator acccount.
  • If you are connecting to Windows XP, make sure that the Internet Connection Firewall settings are not interfering with your connection. SMB uses ports 137, 138, 139, and 445. These ports should be open on the Windows XP computer. This may require "Advanced" configuration of the XP firewall.
  • If you are connecting to a Windows SMB resource, check to see if the firewall is blocking TCP ports 137, 138, 139 and 445. After trying the above steps, you may perform advanced troubleshooting by inspecting log entries in the Event Log of the Windows SMB resource (if you have access to it), and/or the Mac OS X computer's relevant logs in the Console application. If those steps do not help identify the issue, or you do not want to perform advanced troubleshooting, than you should contact your network administrator. It may be necessary to contact your network administrator in some situations in order to grant access to your Mac from the SMB resource, or its host network configuration.
  • Mac OS X uses SMB only over the TCP/IP protocol, not the NetBEUI protocol.

SMB Scanning

I had the same issue and fixed it by adding the group "Everyone" to the shared folder permissions (where I was sending my scans) and assigning the "Everyone" group rights to "change" and "read".
