all I know is that I can't get it to work because of the (Cover Open) thingy please help!

  • mo2moon Aug 21, 2008

Just changed the cartrige for the first time. Display keeps saying that the top is open. I've checked it several times, also the cartrige, no result. Lexmark X3470 dosn't go out either, so I've to pull the wire out.

Scanning it doesn't do either, so all controll is gone.

    Hope you have a solution

Hiya my brother dcp 7010 printer keeps saying back cover open please shut cover but there is no cover open how can i fix it pls

This is happening because there is a paperjam in the machine and its covering the sensor for the back cover. Open the front cover of the machine and remove the drum and toner, then you can remove the paperjam.

Printer keep saying cover is open and cant find

====.> continued from an earlier answer that seemed to close up too soon, before I finished typing my response.

... and the cover appears to the printer to be open. If you can clean this photo-ectric sensror, it will tell the printer that the cover is actually closed, as it should, and the printer will return to printing as it should do.
Clean all photoelectronic sensors, to ensure that they are all going to respond as they should, and your printer will then work fine.

Have a brother mfc7440n and it keeps displaying "drum ending soon". have replaced the drum, but keep getting same display

You need to reset the drum counter.I'm not sure that working with your model but try it.
Try opening the front door cover and keep open. Then pressing clear, it should say replace drum, press 1 for yes, it should then say accepted, close cover and turn off.

The LCD keeps saying 'Cover Open' but, no matter what I do, I can't rectify the problem. As a result, I can neither print nor copy. Can anyone help, please?

On the right side under the lifted cover is a little square of plastic which when the lid is closed pushes down on a plastic lever this then says the cover is closed. Its possible the lever that the plastic cam pushes against is either broken or faulty, check lever is being pushed down with your finger and it should return when released.

Try to power off printer, restart PC and disconnect USB, then connect after restart PC.

The Error says "Cover Open Front" but it is not open

Most printers have a plastic pin on all of the covers that pushes a switch when it is closed. This then sends a signal to the printer telling it "I'm closed".

Probably the pin is broken off (quite by accident I'm sure). A solution is to push a piece of paper in the hole where the pin is, closing the switch, to fool the printer into thinking that the cover is closed. You can try this by pushing a pen point into the hole to see if the message goes out. (Don't forget to remove the paper when you open the cover. The switch is there to keep things out of the mechanism while it is running. May not hurt you but will damage the printer mechanics irreparably.)

Anything else is an error with the printer software and processor and can't be fixed easily.

MP600 - Says inside cover is open - but it's not!

This is a hardware problem nothing to do with software; somewhere inside the printer a cover is not closed correctly.

Printer cover open error message

I had that problem too.

Unplug the printer.
Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer.
Then wait for the printer to power on while still holding the cover open.
Then close the cover.
The buttons should work and th error message should be gone.

It worked for me.
