American Range Fryer LP 35/50 Pilot will not light AT ALL. Gas is exiting the propane tank but when depressing the control knob on pilot it will not light. I'm thinking it may be a pressure issue but not sure. I've replace the Gas Valve but still have the problem. Please help!

Try to disassemble the pilot assembly and check the pilot orifice, it may be clogged tha's why there is no gas exiting from it.

How do I troubleshoot my fryer when I cannot get it to start?

In order to turn the knob to the pilot position you need to push the knob in slightly and then turn. Once the pilot position on the knob is lined up with the indicator on the valve, you can push it in and gas will flow to the pilot assembly.

How to light the pilot

From looking at this parts list, I see that the gas valve is powered by a thermal generator. The generator holds open the gas valve AND operates the gas valve solenoid. Their are 2 thermostats one of which determines the desired cooking emt and another which is a limit that kills the operation if the oil exceeds 450 f. To light this puppy you move the gas valve selection knob to the PILOT position. Press in on the knob and light the pilot with a match. Keep holding down the knob till the flame stays on without the knob being pressed. Advance the knob to the ON position once you have the pilot lit. Most common problems for this rig: Bad thermal generator/thermopile. Weak thermal generator holds the safety pilot on till heat is called for then shuts down when the solenoid is energized. Bad solenoid operator on gas valve (non replaceable you must buy a new valve) Bad thermostat or limit. Pretty easy fix if you like getting greasy. LOL

Kozy world propane wall heater pilot will not light

This can be caused by several things:

1. The inline gas valve running to the the heater is OFF. Turn the valve ON.

2. The gas control knob on the heater is not exactly in the PILOT position. Unless the knob bottoms
out and you feel strong pressure (other than spring pressure) pushing back at you. It's not exactly
in the PILOT Position. Once the pilot lights, hold the control knob in for 30 seconds to 60 seconds
to allow the Thermocouple to full heat.

3. The pilot is dirty and needs to be cleaned, as do the burners.*

4. The LP Gas Tank is empty or to low to maintain te proper gas pressure.

* Here is a link to a demonstration on how to properly clean the pilot & burners.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a older 40,000 BTU 3 burner natural gas deep fryer. I would like to convert to propane gas. The orifice number is size 32. Do I need to get different orifices to convert? The serial number is...

Hi there.

Burner orifice size for propane gas is number 55. You have to replace all burner orifice with this size if you want to use the fryer with propane gas. Pilot burner orifice should be replaced with propane pilot orifice. The gas valve spring should also be replaced with propane spring kit. The difference between the two spring is the natural gas spring is lighter or thinner compare with the propane gas valve spring.

Regards.

Can't locate pilot on vulcan lg300

TO LIGHT THE PILOT
1.Open the door. 2. Turn the thermostat OFF The thermostat is located behind the door. 3. Push the gas control valve knob and turn to OFF. Wait 5 minutes for unburned gas to vent. 4. Push and turn gas control valve knob to the "L" in PILOT. 5. While still holding the knob in, light the pilot with a lit flame. Continue to depress the knob until pilot remains lit when knob is released. If the pilot does not remain lit, repeat step 3 through 5. 6. Depress and turn gas control knob to ON

Lighting pilot light

Pilot assembly is located inside the bottom compartment, between the the two middle burners while the gas valve is located under the burner manifold. Make sure that the gas line where the unit is connected is open. You need to turn the gas valve knob to "Pilot" position and depress it (to allow the gas to flow on pilot) then light the pilot assembly using a lighter with extended nozzle ( burner igniter). Once the flame is present at the pilot assembly, wait for about 15 seconds (allowing thermopile to heat up) the gradually release the gas valve knob. If the pilot flame is stable, turn the gas valve knob to "ON" position and set the thermostat to desired temperature setting. This will ignite the burners and heat up the oil to set temperature. Just remember, do not do this if there is no oil on fry tank.

Connecting the LP Fryer to the propane tank

The gas valve has a regulator on it....but there must be a regulator at the tank that steps it down from tank pressure to operating pressure. Operating pressure for LP is less than 1/2 psi. If you are using this for a trailer....a 40 lb tank would be best.

Pilot light is still on when regulator is turned to off position

I have never owned the item you are having a problem with, but I have used and owned many gas items with a pilot light.

From what I have learnt over the years, I would not worry about the pilot light growing when the unit is turned on, or the noise. However, if the pilot light is staying on for more than a minute (Will burn excess gas in the pipes) or so after you shut the gas off, then your regulator could be leaking. If this is the case, then you should contact your local propane dealer and ask them to replace the regulator.

"IF THE REGULATOR IS LEAKING, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUT THE TANK IN AN ENCLOSED VEHICLE!"

I cant find the way on how to light uo the friar.

If you have a pitco 35 fryer, all you need to do is have gas connected and turned on, rotate the know on the gas valve to the pilot position, depress the knob, while holding the knob down light the pilot, normally located in between the burner tubes in the middle of the front of the fryer, hold the knob for 60 seconds, when you release the pilot should remain on. If it does rotate the pilot know to the "on" position, from this point the thermostat should control the fryer. If your pilot does not stat lit, press the red button on the hi-limit to reset it, it could be tripped and this would cause the pilot to not hold. Hope this is helpful.
