The tub of my cabrio top loader is dropping about 1-2" below where it should be when filled with water and washing. Once the washer finishes and the clothes spin, the tub returns to the height it should be at. Also it is banging against metal while agitating. Is there a spring device under the tub to hold it up?

SOURCE: My whirlpool top loader won't agitate.

Ok, sorry it took so long to write.  You listed the washer as a Calypso, but it didnt look righ, so did some investigative work for you.  What your describing I believe, is that the agitator top half (or the auger as well them) is sitting still and the bottom half if moving.  During the wash cycle, the top half is just sitting still.  If this is wrong, please let me know.  If this is right, you have a sort of simple fix.  Remove the top cap of the auger, pry gently between the cap and the agitator, the plastic cap will come off.  When you remove the cap, you will see another cap (sometimes you do, sometimes you dont) it will be white or dirty clear in color if its there.  You can put your finger on the lips and lift it straight off.  Then you will see a cap with a bolt in the center.  Remove this bolt (7/16" with long extension).  the agitator dogs (Sears part #387091) 387091.jpg.  You should see these under that last cap tha had the bolt in it.  Remove the auger (just slide it up and off), remove the dog holding cap.  Remove the dogs, but be sure you remember the way they go back in.  Next is the tricky part.  Take the cap upside-down, and place it back in the auger.  Quickly turn it back over, making sure the ag dogs dont fall out of position (you will be hating me the first couple time, just keep at it), then, with a long pair of needle nose, place the bolt you removed back in the hole.  Take your extension with socket, hold the bolt firmly, and slide the auger back on to the top of the agitator.  Make sure the locks and stuff fit right between the two.  Tighten the bolt (just snug, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN, you will split the cap).  If all goes well and right, you should be able to roll the auger one way and not the other.  If you need any further help, or need someone to yell at when the dogs keep falling out, give me a shout, and we'll help you along.  Good Luck!!!!!     Jim

SOURCE: Washer does not spin

I had the same problem in october- my had a bad wiring harness, some board problem, and a bad sensor. if it hadn't been under warranty the cost of parts alone would have been over 1000bucks.

SOURCE: My whirlpool top loader won't agitate.

Thanks! Removed the fabric softener dispenser, then the plastic cap with the raised plastic strip, inside the post by reaching in and twisting until the o-ring seal becomes free, then removed the bolt using a 7/16" socket with a long extension. Walked in the washer supply store with the whole module that holds the dogs and the man at the counter saw it in my hand, reached under the counter, laid the 4 plastic dogs on the counter without me saying a word and said "that all you need?" think they sell a lot of them? part number fsp-80040. repaired in 40 min.s including the 5 mile trip to the parts store!

SOURCE: clothes stuck under the agitator

The clothes do not go under the plate they spin out of the top and fall over the side, this is because socks and underwear are either overloaded or spun out, this can be solved by reducing the load size and also spinning small clothing items on lower speeds, but the solution above is very helpful for getting the clothes out, but you will need a long pair of needle nose pliars to pull the clother out of the bottom of the tub. This problem presented itself by a "LD" error (long drain) Thanks tzweeb and I hope this helps others

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer won't aggitate

My Whirlpool WTW6600 had the same problem. The tub no longer floated up and down on the center shaft, so it only spun, not agitated. You must remove the tub (with some effort) and lightly sand / clean the center shaft. Lube it lightly with wheel bearing grease so that after it is reassembled, you can pull the tub upward and feel about 1/2" movement. This will enable the proper gear assembly to engage. It can spin when it rests at the bottom of its travel, but once you fill the tub, it floats, moving upward, and engaging the agitation gear. Good Luck!

When filling my Kenmore washer to begin a load of laundry the water enters the tub like it is going to wash but immediately drains onto the floor and the "water sensor" never tturns the water...

This either due to a detached "water sensor"/pressure switch hose or a broken drain/leaking drain pump. Disconnect power then remove the screws securing the console to the top of the machine. Pull the console forward then up and lay it back on the hinges. The screws are located at the rear of the console, front corners of the console, or at the front corners of the console under the end caps.

I have change stuck is washer making noise when washing. How do I get it out

If this is a Whirlpool Cabrio, it has two pumps. One is the drain pump and the other is a recirc pump. In most cases, loose change an other items end up in one of these pumps. The following link explains how to access and check the pump(s) on the washer for obstructions.

If you have something stuck in the wash tub, you will need to remove the washplate in the center of the wash tub. Follow these steps:

1. Lift the washer top panel by locating the retaining clips in the seam along the front (about two inches in from each side). Use a putty knife to push in while lifting on the top panel to release.

NOTE: Its a good idea to tape the lid shut to prevent it from flying open when you lift the washer top.

2. Remove the wash tub ring. This is the plastic ring around the perimeter of the top of the wash tub. There are a series of release tabs around the tub that you can pry with a screwdriver.

NOTE: The washplate will not come out with the tub ring in place.

3. With the tub ring removed, pop the center post cap off the washplate. Locate the center nut and remove. Hold the washplate with one hand as you loosen to keep it from turning.

4. Lift the washplate out of the tub.

With the wash plate removed, you should easily be able to access anything stuck in the spin basket.

If you have any questions, or if this is NOT a Cabrio, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool Wahser top loader

possibly cold water should be running into the tub at the same time as the cold to regulate the temp.by only having the hot on, it could possibly have timed out and while still being short of water

Washer leaking

You need to remove the front panel and look where the water is coming from. fill the washer on the small water level. then turn it to spin and watch for water.

If its the pump you can replace this, if its a tub seal, up under the tub thats a major job, get someone to give you a quote over the phone. You may want to replace the washing machine. based on age and $$$
