There should be a setup/action or a menu button on the front of the t.v. Press that and use your volume or channel up/down buttons to navigate through the settings. Your looking for something that says auto program highlight it and figure out witch button on the front of the t.v is the enter button. Make sure that before you do the auto program that it's set for cable not air.

Tips for a great answer:

Collect together the manuals or model numbers of all the items you want the universal remote to control. You will need to know manufacturer's name and the model number of the product. You will also need the owner's manual for the Universal Remote
Find the codes for the devices that you want to operate. The codes are located in the Owner's manual for your remote. Be sure to match the codes up with the exact model number of the item that you are trying to operate. Each item must be set up and programmed into the remote individually.
Program the devices by this guideline for the process. These will be different with each model of remote chosen but this is the general procedure, so you know what to expect. To program a TV into the remote perform the following: Press and hold the code button on the remote until it stops flashing. Press and release the Code button and select the device this is for, and enter the three digit code for the manufacturer and model number of your device. With the device on, press the Channel UP key and see if the channel changes. You are done with that device if the channel changes. Repeat the process for each of the other devices.
