Question about Refrigerators

Open Question

Fridge condensate overflowing

I have a brand new Bosch Logixx U/C easy access fridge. It makes a puddle on the floor. I looked around the back to find a plastic tray over the compressor which is constantly full. Should this not be evaporating as it is filled? I will contact the dealer anyway but am interested to see if I can fix it.

SOURCE: water puddling under the frigerator

one thing you should check first is to make sure the condenser fan is running. the fan is usually next to the drip pan at the back of the unit. make sur your condenser is clean and that air movement isn't blocked due to a dirty or clogged condenser which result in very little hot air is circulating around the drip pan to evaporate the water. if you have an icemaker and water dispenser check to see that theconnections located very close to the drip pan. other than that i don't know of anything else that could make(or leave ) that much water in the drip pan

Leaking water from back on to floor

This could be that the drain tank at thebottom of the fridge is overflowing. Normally the drain water will evaporate off with the heat from the compressor but if possible it is good to clean and drain the collecting tray in the bottom of the fridge. You must have access to the backside of the fridge and remove the tray which is normally a pulllout. Drain , clean and put it back-- slide it in. Hope you do thei. Also make sure that the freezer setings are normal and not set high. During cold season this can condense more water to overflow the drain. Hope you try., Good day

On humid days water puddles in the bottom of the frig.

Sounds like the door is not closing properly so humid air is coming into the fridge OR door not closing properly and the humid air is condensing around the door so it is leaking the condensation OR

The water from the defrost cycle is not evaporating so it overflows from the evaporator pan above the compressor. You better call a service technician before getting some floor damage (Do not call A&E)

Our freezer leaks water on the floor. Looks like

I had the same problem, and the solution is that the drain valve was plugged. On my unit, I removed the lower back panel and started cleaning. It was filthy, and I don't think it had been cleaned for 8 years or so. Anyway, there is a drain hose that releases into a flat pan. The pan is really long and weaves its way through the all the other components under the fridge. It is designed to increase surface area and allow the defrosted water to evaporate. Anyway, the drain hose into that pan was plugged. I just removed it from the point of connection to the drain and blew into it (from upstream) and that dislodged the dirt plugging it up. My system allowed relatively easy access, but I would guess some designs might be pretty tricky. Also, make sure you have some towels standing by because when you remove the drain hose, all the backed up water will come streaming out. This was a surprisingly easy job, and only took about 30 minutes total. The main work was vacuuming all the dirt. The lesson learned is that this should be done every few months. Also, a lot of the insulation around the components had pretty much disintegrated, so that was more clean up, and I imagine there might be some issues now with efficiency and maybe hot or uneven spots in the fridge itself.

Water leaks from underneath

Make sure your drainage tube is not plugged.
Check inside the back of your fridge to make sure the little cup that collects condensation from your freezer compartment is not plugged with food or ice.
(I had that happen in my fridge, different model). I had lots of water on the floor of the fridge until I found this solution here on fix-ya.
Also, make sure your fridge is set right for the the humidity levels you have may experience.
Get a hold of the manual for your fridge if you don't have it, and make sure freezer is not too cold.
If you have a lot of condensation on the outside of your door, look inside your freezer and try some different settings.
I'm not sure if this helps at all. Try blowing with a blow dryer on your condensation container area on the inside of the fridge.
I'd love to know if this helped.

How do I empty the tray when full in the back of my model 253.74810400 fridg? Also leaking water from somewhere onto the floor.

the water on the floor will be from the overflowing reservoir at the back of the fridge. i would suggest buying a syringe ith at least 20ml capacity usually you can get them from hardwear shops, and use it to emty the tray at the back. Make sure that the pipe leading from the drainage port to the reservoir (drainage port is located inside inside of the fridge at the back) is sitting inside the collection reservoir and not hanging over the side causing the puddle.

Water from core is getting into my freezer

Right, the drip tray on the upper coil section has a blockage (possibly mold) that prevents the defrost condensate from reaching the evaporator pan that should be at the bottom of the fridge. Those lines are usually accessed from the back of the fridge.
