Disc will not install

To install HP 900 inkjet printer hare is the following step you need follow.

1. Connect you printer with computer and printer should be on.
2. open devices and printers form start and select add a printer,In The Add Printer Pop Up Wizard, Select Add Local Printer and click on next
3.In the Use an existing port drop-down list, select USB Virtual Printer Port (Printer Port) and then click next.
4.Under Manufacturer List Select HP
From Printers List, check whether your printer is listed.
(If your printer is listed there are inbuilt drivers available for your printer in windows 7, if not you can try clicking on the windows update button to get more manufacturers and more printer models, or if you have a disc of your printer drivers you can use have disk option and point to that)
Click On next.
5. In the Printer name text box, type the printer name( leave the default printer name) and then click Next. The printer driver starts to install.

you can also install printer driver with windows update. windows update automatically install your printer driver.

You might have installed the drivers recently with the "found new hard" wizard without selecting "No, Not this time".
Once the "found new hardware" wizard pops up, don't close it or cancel it, rather leave it and directly go to your device manager, expand all the snap-ins and locate any device link with yellow highlighted question (?) mark. Make sure in which device's category it is listed, and install the driver from the "found new hardware" wizard by selecting "No Not this time only" before you proceed to the next step.

Turn off the printer and place your finger on the green feed button. With the button depressed, turn the printer back on. Let the light flash (ONLY!) four times and release the button. Printer will cycle through 2-3 labels. Press the feed button one more time.
You've just set the printer back to factory default and dumped whatever setting told it to act as a fax.

Lexmark does not distribute replacement install disk for all models, but many models are available.

Contact Lexmark here, to see if the disk for your printer is available.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

I have the same problem.

Ok I just solved a persons problem that is very similar to yours. OK So I'll just paste what I told the other person. You might have tried printing a doc/app out earlier and it might have failed so while you trying to print out this present app/doc the printer still might be focused on that failed or it might be confused. Now to stop this follow these instructions. Go to the start bar click control panel. Then once that window pops up ( control panel ) click printers and other hardware. Then once that window pops up ( printers and other hardware ).  Click Printers and faxes and that page will have all the printers and faxes ever installed to your computer. Now click on the printer thats yours and then a smaller wider window will appear you will that window will have all the doc/app you have ever tried printing out. the status bar will show what is going on with each doc/app. Now you should first stop all the doc/apps and refresh. To do this you should highlight all the doc/app and then go into the document tab ( there are several tabs in this window such as document , printer, view and help) then click cancel and cancel all the doc/apps. last step is to go into the view tab and click refresh and it should work :-). If not contact your printer manufactor.

Check that norton allows access to the printer via the firewall as the printer talks to the computer as well.
