Question about Dual XDMR7710 CD Player

1 Answer

A resistor and a capacitor blew on my XDMR7710's main board. I found out the capacitor value because i found the case of it inside the unit, but the resistors color bands are burnt off so I can't find out its value. Does anyone know it? The resistor is marked as R805 on the board. I need to know the value & the wattage rating.

I don't think that's what it's a regular resistor with two leads that goes through two holes and is soldered in. The resistor is located right next to a copper ring on the board, behind the power plug.

Here's a picture of the burnt one on my board

Here's a picture of an intact board and the location of it. This picture is NOT my board, this is the only picture i could find of it, and i can't make out the colour bands on the resistor. I've circled its location in yellow.

I don't think that's the same resistor I was looking for. I added pictures of where it is located on the comments to my post.

The color bands on mine are burnt off because it blew. The picture that isn't clear with the yellow circle on it is a picture of an intact one that is NOT mine, i found that picture on google.

The colour bands on my resistor are burnt off, I can't see them at all. The picture you see of an intact board is NOT mine, i found that picture on google. Like you said, I can tell it has 4 bands but it's hard to make them out from that picture.

That doesn't look EXACTLY the same as my board but the components around it seem to be generally the same so I'm going to try it out. Those colours indicate 3.2 ohms right? Any idea what the wattage would be for a resistor that size? And where I could buy it online?

This is what I found out about it's value. It is a 10R CHASSIS AK30 10 Ohms / 0.25W. If you wonder where you can purchase this? Click Here, it may help you out.

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

Sorry for the late reply, but looking at the picture you sent me, my sight may be blurry or it might be the picture. Anyhow, I was trying to figure out what colors the resistor's made of, it has like four colored rings and just by looking at them I'll be know its capacity. Unfortunately, again, I can't figure out its colors so here's a link i'm sending you. this shows you how resistors are measured. I just hope you know the colors of the four rings the capacitor you're looking for is clearer on your end. However, if you have a hard time converting it's values, I will be able to provide you with it's values if only you can tell me the colors of the rings.

Please let me know if it helped or if you need further assistance.

    This is great!

I got a closer and clearer picture of it now.

If this is it, then we read this as Orange, Red, Gold, Gold which is all you need to ask for to get the right one.

This is where you can purchase it from.

The treadmill have dcmd67 control board I need to know what value resistor R 19 have

I can't help you (directly) with the resistor value, but be aware that if it exploded, there is probably another bad component (such as a capacitor, transistor, and/or an SCR). Replacing only the resistor may result in the same problem, or may not even work at all due to another bad component. If you do find out the value, try putting in a resistor of the same value, but with a higher wattage rating. I once had a washing machine in which the model had a known problem with circuit boards blowing. I solved it by replacing a bad transistor and installing a higher wattage resistor that had blown up like yours. It never failed again. The way I found the value of the blown resistor is, I looked up a replacement board online, then magnified the photo, and looked at the color code on that same resistor in the photo. How I found the bad transistor is too complicated to explain in few words, but you can google the procedure. (You'll need a multi-meter at the very least; preferably _with_ a built in transistor checker. However, a _totally_ blown transistor can be found with only the resistance settings on a regular multi-meter).

Best of luck...

Replace the parts with the original ones, a .5 ohm difference on a resistor on the video circuits will cause the unit not to work correctly.

My jmc7000 jenn-air blew a circuit breaker. No power to the unit. There is power to the recepticle. I'm wondering if it blew a circuit breaker, does that mean the problem is most likely a big problem...

Yau say a few conflicting things. First you wonder if it blew a breaker, and then say you have power to the receptacle. If you have poer to your receptacle your breaker if not tripped. There are NO breakers Inside of the Microwave. Only 1 time fuses. So, if your init is dead it has probably blown a fuse inside of the unit. If that is the case. Probably shorted HIgh volt capacitor would be my first guess. If it is jsut dead. it can be other things than just a blown fuse. bad thermal protectors, bad low voltage transformer on main circuit board. Burnt wires. Anything that will cause it to lose power inside the unit. From bad parts to bad connections.

I need to know the value of the Resistor "R1" in

Let us use a bit of logic to resolve this... I have an Axiom but it would be a lot of screws to take out to get to the part... so let us think about this. The resistor value starts with a "1" and we know it is 5% tolerance (gold). we know the resistor burnt up with likely 5 volts on it... Value could be 1000 ohms, however the voltages present (12 volts max) would NOT have burned up a resistor of 1000 ohms. The USB area is mostly 5 volts and across 100 ohms is only a quarter watt... not enough to really burn up a resistor... First thing is to MEASURE that the resistor s open... in spite of being burned, it MAY still be OK... these resistors now usually either open or remain close to their value. The resistor ALSO may be a fusible resistor intended to act as a fuse... Is the resistor open or not? is it near a resistance with a "1" as the first digit? If it is not open I suspect it is not all of the problem. In that case, look for a burned circuit trace on the board. If it is open, then MEASURE the voltage across the resistor with the power applied. If you find 5 volts, then it MIGHT be a 10 ohm used to limit the USB current to 500ma. Get back to me with your findings... I have unraveled many of these things...

TV won't turn on. Is there a fuse that needs replacing?

Good day!

When the TV is not turning ON it doesn't mean that there's a busted fuse inside although it have a possibility. There are a lot of causes to be considered.Like shorted transistors, leak capacitors open resistors and shorted diode.

Follow this D.I.Y procedures to find the exact problem of your TV.
  1. Remove the back cover of your TV.
  2. After that, find the power supply board.
  3. If you already found the power supply,plug-in your TV and power it ON.Check the input voltage of it,using multimeter (AC range). If the power supply have no input voltage the problem could be the power cord.Replace it.
  4. If the power supply have the input voltage, try to test the output voltage if have 5vdc for the system and logic supply,12vdc for the sounds and 24vdc for the back-light inverter.Use your multimeter tester (DC range) to test that.
  5. If the power supply have a voltage outputs such as 5vdc,12vdc and 24vdc and the problem is still there. The problem could be the main board.Replace it with the same type and model # because the main board is no very difficult to fix and its very sensitive.
  6. If the power supply have no output voltage or the voltage is too low, just ignore the step # 5 because the problem is not on the main board, its on the power supply board.
Check the following to fix the power supply board:
  • Fuse: Check the fuse if it is busted or blown.
  • Power transistor (regulator): Check the regulator if it is shorted or leak.
  • Resistor: Check the resistors specially the one that have a low resistance that near the power regulator.
  • Capacitor: Also check the capacitors if it is leak or bulging top.
NOTE: If you found any defective parts or components that mention above replace it with the same value, type and ratings.

Thank you and good luck. Please don't forget to vote and rate my answer.

I have no power getting into my dvd recorder. would it be the power supply to the unit is burnt out.

If you not getting any indicator at all, then the power supply is dead, if you get some indicator light and that all it does, then the 5v standby voltage circuit is OK but not the main power section. Look for bad filter capacitors that will have bulging tops.
