I hold the botton on and the trigger bur doesn't work "cold boot" of course i released the battery,

Pop the battery (not all the way, just pop it out).

simultaneously press and release the trigger and the

    red Power button.

Pop the battery back in until it clicks

If it says "warm boot" you did it wrong, try again

You should get to the calibration screen, then you know you've done a cold boot

Of course you will need to reset date/time and check your wireless settings.

Take the battery out, press in the red power and the trigger at the same time for 5 seconds, let go and re-insert the battery :) Works like a charm.

When device is getting on device is hanging in windows mobile version screen

If its not booting up correctly you can either clean boot the device or reflash the firmware. Note this will return trh device to its default state and loose any information stored on the device.

Clean Booting the CN50

If the CN50 seems to be locked up, try warm booting and then cold booting the computer. If neither method works, use a clean boot to get the computer up and running for further troubleshooting. When you clean boot, the CN50 only loads files and applications that are absolutely required by the operating system. A clean boot returns the CN50 to an "out of the box" or factory default state, so that you can run diagnostic tests to troubleshoot the normal boot processes:

To clean boot the computer using the mobile computer:

1 Remove the battery pack from the back of the CN50.

2 Reinsert the battery pack and press the Power button.

3 When the CN50 starts the boot process, simultaneously press <and > until the IPL Boot Configuration Menu appears on the screen.

4 Press 2 to select Force Clean Boot and then press 0 to select

Continue with Boot.

The CN50 executes the clean boot. This process takes a few minutes

The clean boot process erases the CN50 memory, including all applications and data files in the object store. To preserve applications through a clean boot, store them in the Flash File Store.

Could you tell me what has to be done when the only item appearing on the screen is MC70?

Resetting the EDA

There are two reset functions, warm boot and cold boot. A warm boot restarts the EDA by closing all running
programs. A cold boot also restarts the EDA, and also resets the clock. Data saved in flash memory or a memory card is not lost.
Perform a warm boot first. If the EDA still does not respond, perform a cold boot.

Performing a Warm Boot - Soft reset

Hold down the Power button for approximately five seconds. As soon as the EDA starts to boot release the Power button.

Performing a Cold Boot - Hard reset

To perform a cold boot simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.

Motorola MC9090 G oes not cold boot.

Hi,

I've found this method works best especially on Window Mobile versions, windows CE does not seem to have the problem.
  1. Have the battery inserted,
  2. Remove the battery so its at the first stage of removal,
  3. Hold down the On/Off button and trigger,
  4. Insert the battery, still with On/Off button and trigger held,
  5. As soon as the amber light flashes release the On/Off button and trigger.
  6. Unit will attempt to cold boot and then warm boot,
  7. If it works then it will boot through to the Windows Splash screen or desktop.
  8. If it fails and continuously warm boots, remove the battery fully as soon as it cycles a warm boot.
  9. The terminal will not switch off at this stage and will completely drain the backup battery and RAM, giving you a complete clean cold boot
  10. Leave the battery out fro 20 minutes.
  11. Power on and see how far you get.
If it still fails after this I would suggest a complete re-flash of the system. Please post a follow up question on how to do this.
Hope this helps.

Diference between Cold boot and warm boot

A warm boot restarts the mobile computer by closing all running programs. All data that is not saved is lost.

A cold boot also restarts the mobile computer, but erases all stored records and entries from RAM. In addition it returns formats,
preferences, and other settings to the factory default settings.
