Question about Huffy Cycling

1 Answer

I'm having a problem replacing the bake lines on a 1970's 26" huffy woman's bike. I can't get the universal lines to work. The end that goes into the brake handle is a smaller fitting. It falls out and I can't remember how to adjust the line to the brake itself so it will work. Could you help me with instructions and pics, please. Terrie

Cannot get front wheel axle into fork

Exactly what model Huffy bike do you have because it is impossible to answer without that info. Perhaps go to the Huffy website and indicate which bike it is.
If it is a basic man's or woman's mountain bike it is a very simple process.
So which bike are you having a problem with.

If you follow these instructions you will not have a problem. Copy and paste this into your browser

How is the "ten speed"

I am answering, but hoping this is not a trick question. ALL Bikes from that time period had two shifters, one the speed gears and one to represent the Hi-Low Function of the gears. In other works, when shifter one was move, it moved the chain on the front sprocket to the Low Gear ratio, Which would translate on the rear 5 piece sprocket as gears 1-5. These were change by slightly moving the second shifter, which in turn would move the chain a slight bit and onto the next sprocket in the line. You could go in any combination of gears from 5th to 1st from 1st to 6th, all by moving the correct level, which would move the appropriate chain guide and mode the chain to the correct sprocket. Let me know if that helps at all. I tried to remove the technical in order to keep it simple. I can make it harder and more technical if you would like.

If you are trying to get to a certain answer, please do not hesitate to ask any question, other than where to get parts, cause that part of Huffy's business is no more and Huffy, really isn't the same Huffy as was in 1989. No really, different organization all together, they basically sold the name and ops.

For a Huffy Pro Beach Series bicycle model #56289K, I need a replacement Speed Grip Shift assembly for the handlebar.

Identify the brand and model and hit the search engines, eBay, call a Bike Shop. It will need to be installed. NO ONE sells just one side. Consider an upgrade since you may be purchasing both sides.

Even the Huffy site doesn't refer to the bike by model number. What's it called?

How to fix a broken footpedal on a huffy rockit bike

You don't fix them, you replace them. Many hardware stores, Box Stores that sell kids bikes and especially real Bicycle Shops will stock them. The latter will also have the tools to install them.

I don't have a manual. The bike is older, it is a Huffy Blades, Hampton Cruiser. I don't know how to use the gears. Can I find instructions on-line? Thank you

Hello,

I try to find some, but it is pretty simple. It is probbly a 10-speed...you don't say. On a typical 10-speed, it has a lever for the front sprocket and a lever for the rear. The front ususally has 2 choices and the rear 5 choices. Some just have 10 sprockets on the rear.

The thing to remember is that the bigger the sprocket...the harder it is to peddle. When going uphill you need to use the smaller sprockets.

I did find this general guide for Huffy multi-geared bikes:

Thanks for using Fixya.

I am trying to assemble my bike, Huffy Ladies' Savannah Road Bike and don't have full instructions in the manual how many inches is Huffy Ladies' Savannah Road Bike ? 24" or 26"

The only Savannah bike that Huffy lists is a 26" (700C Wheels) mountain bike. Some details are available here: http://www.huffy.com/Products/Product.aspx?pid=380'5'16 . Huffy has the assembly instructions available on their site: http://www.huffy.com/Support/BikeAssembly.aspx . The direct link to the manual is: http://www.huffy.com/ExternalLink.aspx?url=/pdf/ownersmanuals/b5cdef6e-94bb-4bfb-9996-832637c144b8.pdf .

I hope this helps. If you have a different Huffy bicycle, start here: http://www.huffy.com/Default.aspx .

I bought a used older model It is a huffy aerocruiser bicycle trailer. has no instructions on how to assemble them onto your existing bike.where does it get attached to and what hardware do you newed to...

While I am no expert, I have a huffy aerocruiser. I also purchase mine second hand, but the woman who sold it to me was excellent on giving instructions at pick-up time! There should have been a peice that fits over the stem of your bike seat and and arm type thing that runs from bike seat piece to the stroller itself. There should also be two clips, a wheel, and a handle. To assemble for bike use, remove your bike seat and place the bike seat adapter piece on the stem of the bike seat then replace bike seat. Use one clip to attach arm to bike seat adapter thing. Use the other clip to attach the arm to the stroller (where the front wheel would go, wheel removed). The bike seat adapter thing remains on the stem of your seat and you just remove the clip that holds the arm to the bike seat when not using the trailer.
To use for jogging, remove the arm and replace the wheel. Slide handle into place and use two clips to hold handle on.
If this requires clarification, please let me know! I may not have made it that clear. I would be happy to take some pictures if it would help!
Best of luck and enjoy your new stroller!
