My evolis quit printing! It had a flashing yellow light, now the yellow light does not come on.Is there any way it can be fixed?

There are 5 lights on the right side of the Evolis ID Maker. The first is the Control button, second is the End of Ribbon light, third is the No Cards light, fourth is the Cleaning light, fifth is the Cover Open light.

If the fourth light was flashing, or on, this means It is imperative that the printer is cleaned.
If the fifth light was flashing, or on, this means The output hopper is midway between open and closed.

Follow the procedure below:
Repeatedly running the cleaning card through the printer cleans the feed rollers, the cleaning rollers and the print head.

  1. Remove the card feeder from the printer.
  2. Closing the lever, set the card thickness to the MAX position.
  3. Remove any cards found in the feeder.
  4. Insert the cleaning card into the feeder.
  5. Put the feeder back into the printer, then press on the upper section of the feeder until it clicks.
  6. Open the cover.
  7. Remove the ribbon.
  8. Close the cover and check it has clicked shut.
  9. Hold down the control button on the control panel for one second. Cleaning starts.
  10. The used cleaning card is ejected into the output hopper.
In addition to routine printer cleaning, we suggest that you clean the cleaning roller(s) using the special wipes available from Evolis.

The cleaning roller(s) remove(s) any dust or particles from the cards before printing.

Follow the procedure below:
  1. Open the cover and remove any ribbon.
  2. Remove the cleaning roller.
  3. Rub the wipe gently over the surface of the roller.
  4. When it has dried, replace the cleaning roller in the printer.
To maintain the original print quality and to absorb surplus ink on the print head, we recommend that you regularly clean the print head (whenever the ribbon is changed) using the cotton buds supplied by Evolis. You must also protect the print head and its components from any discharge of static electricity.

Follow the procedure below:
  1. Take an Evolis cotton bud and press the middle of the tube until the end of the cotton bud is impregnated with alcohol.
  2. Open the cover and find the print head.
  3. Gently rub the cotton bud from left to right along the print head for a few seconds.
  4. Close the cover.

Evolis Primacy printer the top light keeps flashing. If you take the cards out of the printer the light quits flashing

If you're referring to the light just below the power-button light, and it is flashing, that usually indicates the printer is unable to feed a card. But you later indicate that it did feed the card, as it was pulled through and ejected after restarting the printer. Some other things that can be occurring:

1. The Primacy has a low-card indicator/sensor where that light will flash if you have fewer than about 20-25 cards loaded. Fill the hopper and see if the behavior changes.

2. The card not printing/rejecting may be a symptom of your having the driver set for a different ribbon than you have loaded in the printer. Evolis puts the part-numbers on the side of their ribbon cartridges, so make sure you've selected the right one in the driver.

3. You may be out of ribbon. Each ribbon cartridge has a fixed number of prints that it will do. This is electronically controlled and limited through the use of an RFID tag embedded in the ribbon cartridge. For example, a R5F008AAA ribbon is limited to 300 prints. So, while there may be ribbon remaining on the spool, if the ribbon has done 300 prints, it won't allow you to print more and will also act as you describe.

4. There are a number of other potential causes and fixes beyond these most common ones - driver settings, firmware updates, calibration routines, etc. - should the above not resolve the issue.

And, if I can get on my soapbox for a moment, you really should establish a good working relationship with an Evolis authorized dealer (like us). These plastic card printers really exist in a technology niche and, as you are seeing, require some specialized knowledge and expertise. Most authorized dealers will provide at least a basic level of support and service via phone for free to their REGULAR CUSTOMERS. That means that if you buy your printer and supplies from them, they're happy to help you out when the need arises.

However, if you want to be a do-it-yourself guy, searching the web for the rock-bottom lowest price on your printer and supplies, well ... you get what you pay for.

The card have a faint line across after printed. I have cleaned the printer but no luck.

Usually a faint, light line running the full length of the card is indicative of either a need for cleaning, or a problem with the print-head itself. As you've already cleaned the print-head, we can rule that out.

We occasionally see the print-head get scratched, causing this issue. Or, there are occasional (but rare) issues with the electronic components of the print-head. There is not a fix for either, other than to replace the print-head.

Some clients will redesign their badge templates to ensure there is no printing required in the area where the print-head is failed or failing, allowing them to get by without replacement.

As the Pebble line was discontinued in 2012, and it carried only a 2-year warranty, it is unlikely your machine is covered, unless purchased new in April 2013 or later, AND that all required printer cleanings (every 1000 cards) have been done, per Evolis requirements.

Evolis tears ribbon

You have to put darkness setting down on your driver.
2 chances: a) you have the headset with too much temperature due to darkness setting, or you are printing a particular color like metallic blue, gray or intense yellow that can make headset hotter.
b) When you say you have just a left side printed, i remembered customers that set the ribbon to 1/2 YMCKO, check it's not your case

I have an Evolis Pebble 4. For each card printed, a white thin streak appears. This streak cuts through the entire card.

Try cleaning your printer first using the Evolis A5011 Cleaning Kit. If the line is solid and goes across the length of the card, you might have a burned/damaged pixel. Check with Evolis or your Evolis Card Printer supplier for warranty information, your printhead might still be under warranty.

Dear Sir,

Evolis pebble4 printer is a single side card printer . It doesn't has mechanism to flip the card.
If you want to flip the card automatically you must go for Evolis Dualys or higher model.

Just check for the ribbon type setting in driver . It may be required to be corrected . Also try downloading new firmware from Evolis site for Pebble3.
