Question about Philips Audio Players & Recorders

My philips gogear mp3 player that is black and silver and 8gb is not working properly it is stuck on updating 20% screen i have attempted to reset it several times but it still is not working . when i plug it up to the computer its not popping up under the "my computer"....im desperate please help me fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Follow the below steps to fix the issue:

  • Unplug it from the computer,
  • Reset via the hard reset button (requires a needle or something small to insert in the reset button hole, gently)
  • Open songbird on computer
  • Select Tools
  • Select repair my phillips device
  • Select your vibe
  • With the vibe still off, Hold the volume + key on the vibe while you connect to computer wait for the computer screen to drop to the reset functions then let go of the volume button and follow on screen directions.
Hope this allows you to resolve the issue.

Philips go gear 8GB text backwards?


I had this same problem. I had put GoGear Opus software on my SA52xx player. When I uninstalled the Opus software and resinstalled the SA52x, the problem went away.

How to unfreeze philips gogear 8gb mp3


Connect the player to power and pc. Reset the player by holding the off-switch and the volume-+ (plus) switch., and as soon as the player shuts off, press and hold the volume- - (minus) switch. The philips device manager should come up now and recommend a repair, let it do so.

I have a philips gogear 8gb freezes up several times a hour


Unfortunately the GoGear HDD series is totally incompatible with Windows Vista and Windows Media Player 11. It will work for a while, and then behave exactly as you described. Solution: You will need to uninstall your GoGear software, rollback to Windows Media Player 10, reinstall the GoGear software, update the firmware on your player, and even then the damage may already be done (IMO, it is more trouble than this player is worth). You can read about the warnings on Philips website.

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged first.

Run a Repair using the updated version of the Philips Device Manager on Philips website - www.usasupport.philips.com

You need a firmware upgrade.

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

When you first update the GoGear, or after loading a large number of songs, it is quite normal for it to take a while to update.
