There are 2 ways.

1. You can use the program that you are using to set the margins.

  • If you are using MS Word, just go click on File (upper left), select Page Setup, and look for Margins. And you can set the margins on all sides of the paper.
  • If you are using other programs they are usually in the same location (File > Page Setup > Margins)
2. go to your Printer's directory and change settings(warning this changes the printer settings so all your documents will be affected)
  • If you are using windows, go press start and the bottom left and look for the word "printers" or control panel.
  • if you click on control panel, look for the word printers again and click it.
  • when you are on the printers window right-click on the printer, and select properties
  • in properties, look for printer preferences and left-click it
  • look for margins to change the settings.
I hope this helps.

How can I adjust margins when printing from my computer?

I never heard of any printer that might adjust margins like that... but if we're talking of hardly 1/8" difference, are you sure the feed guides are set to a firm running fit, please?

Are you sure the printer drivers are the latest version for your OS?

Has this happened from new, or did something change, please?

Best,
Robbie

Why won't the printer print .5" margin on the side

1. The side guides of the paper tray are adjustable and should be snug to the edges of the paper. To loose and things can begin to shift.
2. Are you using letter sized paper or A4. Your print driver and word processing program need to know this.
3. The driver and processing program have margin adjustments within them. They are usually good by default but perhaps another user was in there and changed things.
4. Is the print job specked for the correct orientation....portrait or landscape and is the paper loaded the same.

ComDear all, Please help to solve thia problem: print revoew does not match print out (the margin of the paper)

Hi

The default margin settings are not the same for the right and left hand side of the page.

The left margin is always wider to allow for punch holes in file paper.

It is not the printer settings you need to adjust, it is the page layout of your word processing software.

Adjust the margin settings manually. In MS Office 2007, for example:

Page Layout > Margins > Mirrored Margins.

I hope this helps.

I am trying to print a booklet 2 pages per sheet double sided. Printing is OK but spacing is no good for the binding when the pages are cut in two. What instructions should I give the printer to allow...

Hi

By spacing, I assume you mean the margins at the centre.

The default margin settings are not the same for the right and left hand side of the page, so the printing on the reverse side is offset from the printing on the first side.

The right margin is always wider to allow for punch holes in file paper.

It is not the printer settings you need to adjust, it is the page layout of your word processing software.

Adjust the margin settings manually. In MS Office 2007:

Page Layout > Margins > Mirrored Margins.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
The default paper selection/ size in MS Word is 'letter'. you may have designed the document on letter size and while printing you have A4 size paper in the printer.
So, Make sure that you design the document on the same paper size (such as A4, which is commonly used). Secondly, while printing don't print the document directly. From the Print dialogue option choose the exact paper size and un-check (de-select) any option of paper resizing (if available). You will have the documents printed exactly as designed.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Lexmark 6170--Right side margin cuts off printing material

I'm not familiar with that specific brand but first I would check to see that the paper in the drawer is positioned correctly in the center of the tray where it should be. If the side guides are broken, the paper can slide over to one side or the other cutting off part of the image on either side. Other than that it may be a setting that needs to be adjusted, but I would lean more toward the first solution.

Adjust margins

If the margins are off, it is usually the paper in not sitting correctly in the paper tray, check the edge guides on the paper tray, make sure they are firmly against the paper.

Hope this is of some help.

Optra T610 Print Problem

Your paper size settings for Tray 1 is probably wrong. Make sure it is set to Letter and the type is Plain Paper. If your Paper size is Universal, then either the paper guide in the tray is set wrong or the paper size sensor is broken. If the sensor is broken, you can disable auto paper size sensing so the printer will allow you to specify a paper size. To disable paper size sensing, you need to go into Config Mode. The other way is to send a PJL command to the printer to disable the function.
