Headphone jack not functioning properly

This is the normal way for this laptop ..leave it always with the headphones on selected in that list ..cause if the main speakers don't work well there is no point in using them ..This way you will run whatever yo will plug in ..speakers or headphones..The only setting difference in headphones and stereo out ..is that for headphones will but the speakers of the laptop when plugged in ..This way it will even help you if the speakers are making weird noises cause they are damaged ..

I bought this Acer aspire 7535g laptop off of my mum's friend which was in great condition when I bought it. The sound was perfect. Every driver was up-to-date. However now... 8 months on, the sound...

You can try booting a live linux CD or thumbdrive and see if that gives you sound. That will give you an idea if it's Windows or a hardware problem. If it's a windows problem try uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers. If that doesn't work keep searching around or just try a fresh install of windows.

Dear Sir, Speakers are working but headphone is not working please tell me the solution.

Well you can only play sound through one device at the same time. If you wish to change the device to play audio from, using windows 7, go to the bottem corner of your screen, to the system tray. You will there see a speaker icon, rightclick it and click sound devices. Then figure out which device your headphones are (if there's multiple speakers showing up). Click the speaker you want to use and click the set as standard button.
You may have to restart the applications currently playing sound in case they don't play sound anymore or they still play through the wrong device.

I want to watch some videos on my sharp lcd but using headphones without any sound coming from the speakers, but I don't find any headphone output. How can I do this??

First, since there is no proper headphone output on this television some people have been able to find an adapter to connect their headphones to. The other end of that adapter has a red and white RCA audio cable on it, and it would connect to your television's audio output. However I have heard from some people that they only get one volume level that cannot be adjusted when it works. Alternately you can connect your television to a sound bar or sound system that has an actual headphone jack and RCA audio inputs. If you still have a "boom box" sitting around with the RCA audio inputs you can connect the television to it as well. You need something to serve as a go between/center channel for this television that you can also connect your headphones to.

How can I get headphones to work with my Symphonic WF203 TV?

This set doesn't have a headphone jack, nor does it have RCA audio output jacks. Without one or the other, you're out of luck connecting headphones to this TV.

I remember a product some years ago that allowed adding headphones using a small microphone placed in front of the speaker. This was hooked to a little amplifier that ran the headphones so the volume could be independently controlled. It was marketed as a way to let "hearing-impaired" family members listen to TV shows without needing to make it uncomfortably loud for others. I haven't looked, but something similar might still be available. It's cumbersome, though, and needs power, plus maybe being costly if you find one.

It's possible to add a headphone jack, but you need to know how to do electronic soldering. Find a spot on the case where you can make a hole and mount a headphone jack, then wire it to the speakers. If you want the headphones to cut off the speakers when plugged in, you need a switching jack, and the speaker wires need to be cut and connected to the correct terminals. The switch built into the jack then disconnects the speakers when the headphone plug is in. If you don't need to turn off the speakers it's a little easier. You just need to wire from the jack to the speaker terminals. I've added jacks on quite a few sets. If you don't feel up to it and don't know anyone who is, you can see if a TV shop (if there are any left in your area!) would do it. (The shop I used to work for charged about $20, including the jack, but that was over 10 years ago now.)

Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Only one speaker is working on my HD 205 it worked well the other day, and then it suddenly stopped making sound the next day and been like that since then.

First, have you checked the headphones on multiple devices, or only one device? If you have only been trying it one one device, it could be that the jack in that device is bad.
If they don't work with any devices, it probably means that the connector is bad on the headphones, or that the wires are faulty. Do they connect with the tiny 3mm (standard) jack, or with the larger TRS (looks like a guitar cable) jack?
It is also possible that one of the speakers may have been blown out. Have you recently been listening to anything very loudly on them, especially with an external amplifier?
In any case, I would recommend taking them in person to an audio expert.

Sound still appear at speaker even when headphone was installed

Hello Again,

When you Plug in HeadPhones into the Laptop the Sound Playing should automatically Bi-Pass the Speakers and go Straight to the Headphones

-Unless there is a Faulty Input for the Speaker/ Headphone, Try Pushing in the Headphones More to see if the Speakers Turn Off

Hope this Works --P3NGYJ03

No sound from speakers

Believe it or not, not all speaker plugs, even if they are of the same size are NOT made the same. Some times the "male" PLUG pushes into the "female" socket in such a way that it makes NO connection or does not make the right connection causing the headphones not to work.
TEST: play music that u can hear through the internal laptop speakers, and while the music is playing, plug in the headphones.
The internal speakers SHOULD cut out, and under normal conditions the music should pass through the headphones.
If the speakers cut out and the headphones don't work, your plug is damaged.
If the speakers DON'T cut out after u plug in the headphones, your plug is open.
Depending on the audio circuit, your audio amp. inside the laptop is going to get damaged.
It depends on the WAY the audio circuit was made.
