Its sounds like the blade lock button is depressed.
looking from the rear of the unit, you should see a button between the left side of the handle and behind the blade shield.
check that. it probably is locked in the depressed position or it may be damaged.

I hope this helps.

How replace blade on 7 1/4 circular saw - Milwaukee

UNPLUG THE SAW first!! Look for the blade lock on the top or front of the motor body, Hold the lock button down while turning the blade nut with a wrench. After a bit you'll feel the lock button engage and hold the blade firm. Rotate the the wrench counter clockwise and remove the nut, Slide the blade out from under the guard and replace with a new one. Reinstall the nut following the above procedure.

Blade continues to spin after turn off

I don't know the make or model of your saw but the blade brake on circular saws is controlled by the power switch. If your saw previously did brake the blade rotation, you need a new switch to make it work again. Also a generic switch will not do, you have to have the brake switch made for your saw or it will do the same thing.

Lost my manual for my 7 1/4 inch circular saw with laser light. Can you simply tell me how to tighten the blade? Thanks Jean

Hi Jean,
Unplug the saw.
# 1: First look for a blade break mine is at the front of the saw.
# 2: Some blades have a hole for a nail.Turn the saw blade down so that you can put a nail through so it catches on the body or Gard when you turn the wrench.
# 3: Use a nail in the gullet : curved space in front of the tooth (o<----nail 9k=to loosen just move the nail to the right side of the blade. My saw doesn't call for total tightening so it wont hurt the motor if it hangs up.If your saw blade has any blue spots it's dull and you need a new one.Thank You for choosing FixYa.com----Darryel

Can't get blade screw off, is a circulat saw brand Rayobi.

Hi delauz1939,

You didn't say exactly what the problem is. Is it that the bolt is too tight or is it that the spindle won't stop turning?

If the problem is that the spindle turns so you can't get the bolt off, there is usually a spindle lock on Ryobi circ saws. It is between the handle and the blade guard. I believe it has a label on it.

If yours doesn't have one, like my saw, what I do is jam the blade so that it won't turn and then loosen the bolt.

If this is not the problem, please reply back.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

I inherited a very old Fury F-7 circular saw from my Dad. It uses a 7-1/4 diameter saw blade. This is sorta-kinda embarrassing, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to lock the shaft to replace...

Most times when I need to change a blade on my 7 1/4" saw I simply grab the blade on the front side, below the saw's support table, with a pair of channel lock pliers and then use the box end wrench on the blade nut, pushing down from the back side of the saw blade. That should loosen the nut so you can take it out with your fingers. The reverse of this procedure should tighten the nut on a new blade.
I'm not real familiar with the Fury saw, but if it requires saw blades with the diamond shaped cut-out in the center, most of the older blades had a knockout that will fit the diamond shape it would need.
