Question about Nikon Coolpix S4000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I got this camera last June and it's been dead since January. Every time i try to charge it, it will not respond to the charge. The battery is completely dead, but when the charger is plugged into either the wall or the computer, it will not charge at all. Is it the battery? Also, Ike th recently just ordered a new charger for my camera and the same result happened; the camera will not respond to the charge.

Hi, Sounds like the battery is toast. Batteries can stop charging any point in their life span. Usually I'd suggest just buying a new battery but because a battery shouldn't die like that within the first year I'd suggest contacting Nikon in your country and seeing what they'll do for you.

It would appear to be the battery or the battery contacts. Clean the contacts on the battery and recharge the battery. If still does not charge then get a new battery

Nikon S3000 dosent turn on

Have you updated the firmware? According to Nikon, when the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. Usually, you'll receive the message "Battery Exhausted" if this is the problem... but you could also have a completely dead camera as well.

See Nikon's website, download updated firmware to your camera and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

I used it last night. It was never dropped. Then the battery died, so I charged it. Now I can't turn it on anymore. I bought my Sony DSC-TX100V in June 2011.

If warranty is available now is the time to return the item, there is clearly a manufacture defect that cannot be resolved, and your product should exchanged.

My camera wil not power on.

Depending on the situation, it could be several issues.
- Battery may not be charged, or wasn't charged properly. - Battery is cold. - Camera may actually still be on, but it won't show on the monitor because you may have them turned off.

Try this: Press DISP until shooting data or photo information displays, it should show up at some point. If it doesn't then it has to be the battery.
If you don't think it is, try and provide extra information on when was the last time you used it or the last time you charged the battery and etc. Thanks!

Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in today's power hungry digital cameras. Some batteries may also have reached their shelf life at the store, and though brand-new right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. The one's that came with your camera are just to show you that the camera works, but as you've discovered, they'll only last for a few pictures. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with modern rechargeable batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you should see the same recommendation.
Modern rechargeable batteries have over 5 times the power density of alkaline batteries (that's right, they last up to 5 times longer than an alkaline battery. And you can recharge them over and over!). Keep in mind rechargeable batteries will save you much money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

The battery should be good if it was bought in January, with that said nothing is nperfect or lasts forever, there are always issues with some things. If all your connections from the charger or USB are good and tight and the cables are good, the either the battery is bad or the plug in on the camera is bad, or the battery nmay be installed incorrectly. That is about all there can be .

Hi, It almost sounds like the battery won't hold a charge anymore which means you need a new battery. Since the camera isn't quite a year old yet I'd suggest contacting Nikon and seeing if they'll do anything for you before you buy a new battery.

If your sd400 is like mine, both batteries were dead within 18 months with very minimal use. Try a new one (battery).
