Question about Uniden Cordless Phone

Cordless telephone sw/from pulse to tone

I'm having trouble learning how to swtich my phone from pulse to tone, there doesn't seem to be any obvious control/button on the phone.
I would appreciate some assisstance sooner than later if possible. My 900 MHz cordless phone was unplugged and in storage for three weeks. Now it has a pulse instead of a tone and I can't check voice mail because it won't accept my password, and when I call a business and get an electronic menu it won't accept the numbers I enter. Help! I have tried pressing Program and *Tone, and I get the confirmation beep but nothing has changed.

My GE cordless 900 MHz phone, model 26928GE2-A, was unplugged and in storage for three weeks. Now it has a pulse instead of a tone and I can't check voice mail because it won't accept my password, and when I call a business and get an electronic menu it won't accept the numbers I enter. I have tried pressing Program and *Tone, and I get the confirmation beep but nothing has changed. There is no switch on the back, as the previous Expert suggested.

  • cupton5428 Aug 15, 2008

Pressing # did not work either.

  • cupton5428 Aug 15, 2008

The suggestions by jonniewalker have nothing to do with this model of phone. I don't have any of those controls (Store, or In, or Tone/Pulse selection)--if I did I wouldn't need to be asking for help. And by the way, I know that my telephone service provider provides touch-tone service. The phone used to have tone; now it has pulse and I can't switch it back. My other phone--same brand, same model, purchased about the same time--still works fine on tone.

  • cupton5428 Aug 15, 2008

I have received three separate notifications of the same useless advice from jonniewalker, after I've already said he's not talking about the same model of phone. I don't believe this kind of service is worth $9.99.

  • cupton5428 Aug 18, 2008

Thank you, Junoon007, but if I had a Tone/Pulse switch I wouldn't need to be asking this forum for help, as I said in my previous comment. I KNOW I can't use tele-services; that is the whole point of my query.

  • cupton5428 Oct 01, 2008

Apparently none of you read my original postings. All of the suggested solutions either did not refer to the model I have or repeated solutions offered earlier that I had said did not work. If you are going to offer solutions you should read carefully not only the description of the problem but all the previously offered solutions. In case you'd like to know, the phone was worn out; I have replaced it with a newer GE model; thank you all for trying.

TONE/PULSE SWITCH With this switch you can place the SYDNEY phone in the appropriate dialling system: Pulse or Tone. How do you know in which position this switch must be? • Place the switch in TONE-position (T). • Pick up the handset and dial a random number. • If the connection is made, leave the switch in TONE-position. • If the dialling tone continues and you therefore are unable to make any telephone connection with the desired number, you have to place this switch into PULSE-position (P). This switch is not used in countries where only “TONE” dialling is available. THE ‘TELE-SERVICES’ / P T KEY If your telephone only works in PULSE mode and not in TONE mode as de- scribed above, you normally cannot use the Tele-Services such as Tele- banking, Tele-shopping etc... With this Tele-Services key you can use these services without any problem. During dialling you’ll be able to temporarily switch from PULSE-mode to TONE- mode. • Pick up the phone. • Dial the required number (in PULSE dialling mode). • Wait till connection is made. • Press the P T key. • Each number dialled from this moment is using the TONE dialling mo

You didn't specify the model of your phone, but on many Uniden phones the choice between pulse and tone dialing is on the main menu.

Select the model of your phone from the list beginning at
http://www.uniden.com/owners-manuals/dect-phones/scat/dectphones_mnl/
to get the manual.

Phone went from touch tone to pulse. . .

Hello,

Read the manual to reconfigure that option. (Look for Setup button on the phone) I can't guess what model you have. On older phones one could find a switch on the the phone to flip between Tone and Pulse.

Sorry I could not be of much help.

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

What is the difference between pulse and tone? What should I set my phone and fax on?

The difference is that when you set your phone on pulse it works like a switch on/off 1 pulse for number 1, 9 pulses for n9 and so and so.
When you set it on tone each number has a different tone, differnet sound frequency.
You should set your telephone on tone.
