Music enjoyment is in the ear of the beholder. I frequently experiment with every DSP mode I have on all kinds of stereo music. Sometimes it's really nice, other times not so. Video soundtrack reproduction depends mostly on how the audio comes in (analog vs digital) and how many channels it was originally recorded but the settings are still up to you.

How can I control a ht-c550 with a harmony 700?

Assuming the Harmony 700 is universal, you can use code search to find something that handles some or all functions of your Samsung TV. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try a different universal remote. All universal remotes do not store all possible codes.

Hi, we just bought a new Samsung 46 inch Smart TV and a Samsung home theatre system HT-D5530.. I just want to know how do I get the TV sound to play through the surround sound system?

First, is the unidentified TV the actual source of audio (self-tuning from the air) or does its programming actually originate externally, say, a Cable Box? What does the TV's manual say?

If the sound actually comes from an external source treat that source like any other hi-end audio component and attach its highest quailty audio directly to the HT according to ITS manual.

NO signal ever benefits from multiple connections or 'hops' and it gets expensive zig-zagging a signal all over the room. K-I-S-S is the word of the day. Run the BEST version of any signal directly from its source to the BEST electronics that will present it to you for consumption. The separation of audio and video inputs and outputs on a device is what allows and ENCOURAGES the direction of each signal to the BEST electronics that can process it. Example: your TV does not have the best speakers in the room so why send it any high-end audio?

HI Guys. I just upgraded to DirecTV HD-DVR ( I have aHR24-200) installed which is connected via HDMI to my Samsung HD TV. I have a Samsung HT-C550 Digital Home Theater System which is now directly...

You're correct and that is exactly how I always recommend setup (contrary to what the manuals tell you). It makes no sense to me to run any signal through any electronics or interconnections that neither use it nor improve it. Hence, I have NO SOURCE VIDEO going to or through my receiver and NO high end audio going to my TV (which could just as well be a monitor with NO audio capabilities, right)?

Audio electronics should receive the BEST digital audio directly from it's root source.
The TV should receive the BEST video directly from ITS root source.

THAT is why most all high end A/V gear has separate audio and video in/outputs.

If that means you have to make some switching choices when using different sources, oh well. At least you won't have experience potential degradation from multiple hops or have to troubleshoot problems that could be anywhere in that chain.

Need help setting up samsung Ht-tx 72 dvd home theater system jus to get sound to come from tv thru the surround sound speakers

Look in the manual...

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-HT-TX72-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/2771dj593/t/2/

The TV >>receives<< Video and Audio from the Samsung. Page 19.

The unidentified TV with its unknown audio capabilites has a manual somewhere, too.

How many TV's are actual audio sources?

If the TV is actually a root source of programming (say, through its own antenna) you can run cables from it to the Samsung as you would any other audio source. If the audio really comes fro ma Cable Box THAT is where the best TV-related audio will come from.

I want to know how to connect my lcd 32" tv to my new ht-c550 so that i can watch tv and listen to the sound of the tv through the surround system, what do i need to plug and where?

Not enough info here. But basically, the Audio Out from your TV (could be Toslink fiber-optic or Digital Coax or just Red and White Audio cables) go into the receiver's inputs (either TV, or Aux or whatever). If you just use the Red and White cables (stereo), you will not get true surround sound though. Just put your receiver on whichever one you hook it to (ie: Aux) and whatever sound is on the TV will come out the Stereo or Surround Sound. It's all a matter of hooking TV out to Stereo IN. Hope this helps; James

I'am unable to get video on my TV off of the HT-C550 HELP

Try to ensure that you have selected "source" correctly from your TV and that the cables from your HT are set up correctly. If you pop in a DVD to the HT then **** about with the "source" options on the TV you should at least get sound (only one cable to worry about) or everything if you use an HDMI cable. The satellite or cable selection should go via the HT so again make sure if is is hooked up correctly - if you do not see DVD, Cable or the HT "home" screen then your TV may be faulty.

I just bought samsung ht-c550 and i have sylvania tv and tv doesn't have the audio optical plug so what should I do?????

So where does the audio for the TV REALLY come from????? Unless you tune it through an antenna it gets its programming from a Cable or SAT box. It probably has a digital audio output, right? Can you think of any good reason to wash digital audio through your TV before it gets to your receiver? I can't.

Running standard analog audio from the box to the TV would be good for those times when hi-fi isn't important and you want to save a few cents on electricity by turning the Samsung off. You know, news, talk shows, weather.
