Thank you! However this is actually an XP netbook with no CD/DVD drive so Acer supplies (or you can purchase) an ,iso file that is supposed to enable the creation of a DVD that will let you creat a bootable USB drive with the original ACER image on it so that you can restore to factory. The .iso file doesnt seem to make a DVD burn happen correctly. Thanks in advance for any additional support!

Usb restore disc?? the iso file would normally be burned to a cd/dvd, but if you must, try this unetbootin-windows-248.exe

the idea of an iso file is you burn it to cd/dvd drive (usb? maybe, if that's how it's designed). once burned, that disc then becomes bootable and it's probably at this stage where you can create the usb drive, or just restore the netbook directly from the cd/dvd. I've been looking at the acer website and copied this:
"Can I create a USB flash drive or external hard drive with the recovery software from Acer eRecovery Management?

The Acer eRecovery Management allows the creation of Recovery CD or DVD media, but it cannot be used to write the recovery software to other media. CDs or DVDs will remain free of viruses, ensuring the recovery process will always allow you to restore the system to its original state."
Sounds like they told you something different or yoou're looking at something different. You should be able to create the recovery dvd using their e-recovery system then create a bootable usb drive with the info I pointed to before.

Hello i m facing some problem i cant boot my windows through usb drive i will explain the process i have did to boot from usb drive. Before that i will give some information about my system please note...

Most of those Windows to USB applications are for creating an Windows USB installation, not actually installing an operational OS on the USB. Does that make sense?

You would have to run the setup and choose the drive to where to install the OS. This would mean you would have to do it from a CD/DVD disc or have two USB drives, but this may cause a conflict.

Windows 7 instaiiation disc

http://download.cnet.com/windows-7-usb-dvd/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

When you purchase Windows 7 from Microsoft Store, you have the option to download an ISO file or compressed files.

The Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool allows you to create a copy of your Windows 7 ISO file on a USB flash drive or a DVD.

To create a bootable DVD or USB flash drive, download the ISO file and then run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool.

Once this is done, you can install Windows 7 directly from the USB flash drive or DVD.

Hope it helps

In Roxio Creator 10, I attempt to burn a disk of a slide show. I receive an error message 8004520C When I check production it reports no problem. This is repeatable.

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:

  1. Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
  2. When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.

If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:

  1. After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
  2. You have two data burning options:
    • Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
    • Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.

Restore factory default settings

In order to refresh a netbook you will have to use a USB key or an external USB DVD ROM to run windows and restore the system. If you still have all of the original software on the laptop you should be able to go to Start>>Control Panel>>Backup and Restore and click Create System Restore Disk. You can then create CDs that can be used to restore your system. You can also copy windows files from a DVD or ISO file to a USB thumbdrive and install windows again from scratch by booting to it. I will be posting a how to on how to do this in detail.

Good Luck,

Where do i find a boot up disk for my hp pavilion running xp? currently the unit starts to boot and then restarts.

Trying to get a bootable XP CD is difficult if not impossible to purchase. Therefore you might want to create one.

I just recently created a bootable XP CD since I was building a new computer and wanted to be able to boot from a CD.

The following URL is a blog I found that helped me create my bootable CD

Create Bootable XP CD

You'll need an XP CD in order to copy the files to your hard disk and to extract the boot image from.

I already had an XP SP3 disk and didn't need to perform the "merging" like the link above does. I did find and download iso buster (freeware) in order to extract the microsoft boot image file.

I used the Roxio steps to create my CD. My version of Roxio was slightly different so the instructions were not 100% correct but I was able to figure things out.

If you successfully create your bootable XP CD you will still need your license key to install just as if it came right from the factory

Cant download VersaJette M300 without disk

M300 Vista Driver Image (ISO CD must be made) http://downloads.versacheck.com/download/m300patch/cdvjm300.zip

There are two ways to use the .ISO file: 1. To burn the .ISO file to any CD/DVD use a CD/DVD burning software like Nero, Roxio etc. Then run the CD/DVD to install drivers. or 2. Use a Virtual CD/DVD Drive Software which will allow you to use the .ISO file without burning it to a CD/DVD ROM. This software will create a Virtual CD/DVD drive which can open the .ISO file and let you use it just like a regular CD. Here is a list of some Virtual CD Software titles available: 1. Microsoft Virtual CD Drive Tool Free from Microsoft 2. ISO Buster 3. Deamon Tools 4. Undisker can open and install ISO files-free trial period

Boot disks

After you have downloaded your RHEL 5 ISO file from an approved community, verify the file, and create a cd. If using something like roxio cd creator, they have a handy function called BURN DISC IMAGE. That is where you would insert the ISO file that you downloaded and it will create an automatic startup cd for you. Just make sure when you are booting the pc up you have it set in your CMOS MENU to check that cd before booting from hard drive

File images

There is no need to convert iso. Better you go to select file and select all the avi file you need to write on the CD/DVD. The files will be transferred on your disc.
